Vacuum line to the headlights

Featured Replies

Hello y'all !

I'm the proud owner of a '67 Grand Prix convertible. I recently had my carburetor cleaned, and now the headlight curtains don't work anymore... the vacuum line is disconnected but, I don't see where to connect it.

I see the line to the brake vacuum canister, the advance line but... what am I missing ? (the line to the headlight is the one at the front).

Any help will be greatly appreciated !

Thanks !

IIRC There should be a port at the base of the carb, possibly along with Brake vacuum.

Agreed. If all your vacuum lines are accounted for to both your carb and intake manifold, then I recommend you go down to your local auto supply store and pick-up a vacuum line "T", cut one of the vacuum lines to the carb and connect the line you cut, add the "T", and add in the line to the headlight actuator canister.

If it still doesn't work and you know you have strong vacuum going to the canister, then your canister may be damaged and may have  a leak.

I went looking to see what I could find on Vacuum hose routing and didn't see much.

This is the only Diagram I came across that may offer some insight to hose connection points.

I'm drawn to your GP as one of my fellow (Local) Pontiacers GP has re-emerged.

We lost contact years ago and his GP recently showed up at a Cars & Coffee.

It was great to see it was still in excellent condition but sad to learn  he had passed :(

Anyway I hope this diagram helps.

Cheers

Thanks a lot ! So indeed I will need to buy a T because from the vacuum port, there are already the vacuum canister for the brakes (works fine) and for the advance (works fine too I guess !).

Here's the beauty below !

Take real good care of her. She's a one year only special.
