Shaker hood scoop

Please help me settle a dispute with someone. If a Shaker is permenantly attached to the underside of the hood, have you not defeated it’s sole purpose. It can no longer Shake with the engine movement when your right foot is applied. Since there is no seal between the Shaker & the air cleaner the air cannot fully be rammed into the carb. Some will be dispersed under the hood. Your opinions matter. Thanks Lucky

Once attached it essentially becomes a scoop. There's a reason they are called a SHAKER.

I agree with you. It stops being a Shaker if it is attached to the hood.  Now Pontiac didn't do us any favors when the blocked off the windshield facing scoops back in the mid-70s either. However, it is nice to know that there are aftermarket kits available to open them back up again and make them functional.
