dynomax for a 2.4

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if this muffler (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029J3IO/ref=s9_simh_gw_p263_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-4&pf_rd_r=07HVXKJ6YJ2QGJNN8X63&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470939031&pf_rd_i=507846)

+ a cherry bomb would be good on a 2.4 g6.

also, would i lose any low end torque with this type of set up?

Thanks

you will need Chaos. he will tell you what you need.

used a dynomax on my 2.2 eco before, sounded HORRIBLE

junked it and got a borla, way more awesome

Dynomax mufflers sound great with the Ecotec L61 and LE5 motors. You need a glasspack or high flow resonator, and don't go bigger than 2.25" pipe diameter.

so that muffler would be good then? and i wouldn't lose too much low end torque?

i had the dynomax ultraflow with a magnaflow resonator and 2.25 pipe, sounded like ass

The ultraflow is a chambered muffler. I have to find it again, but Dynomax makes a muffler made for 4 cylinder cars, and they sound awesome, especially with a performance resonator.

Chaos have you heard/seen any sound clips online of a set-up like that?

I never got a sound clip, but my friend Lizzy's GA, with the L61 Ecotec motor. She kept the 2" pipping, glasspack resonator, with a Dynomax crossflow muffler. It was quiet driving normally, but loud at WOT.

im getting 17739 (dynomax) with an 87510 (cherrybomb) on my 4-cyl 2.4

Keep the 2" pipping and you're golden. Also, if you do add a header, it will become raspy.

wait so 2.5" piping would be bad?

It'll sound like complete poo.

okay so stay 2.25" all the way along and itll be fine?

Your car is pretty much stock, stick with 2". I'm pretty sure the LE5 models have 2" pipping for the exhaust.

mine is 2.25"
