Wow, well quality sure isn't going to improve  

Hmmm....so does this mean that Vauxhall will become a re-badged division of Chevrolet/Buick/Cadillac? Will GM build left-hand and right-hand drive Euro-spec cars in North America and then import them to Europe or expand manufacturing in the UK? With Holden being shutdown from a manufacturing perspective, it would appear that GM is consolidating manufacturing in North America, South America, and Asia (e.g Korea and China) at this time. 

I suspect a shake up in South America could be next since it too has been a perennial drain on cash as well.

This is huge guys. Opel has been GM's premiere division/nameplate in Europe, UK, Africa and the Middle East for decades.  Not to mention the heart of "global" engineering. I am wondering if the global engineering badge will move to Asia now.

Be interesting to see for sure what GM decides to do as they really don't have anything in Europe any more so import will likely happen there, I don't see them wasting money on building there or they would have turned all Opel plants into them or something... Be interesting to see what happens in South America like you said, Frosty.

Buddy of mine at work today stated that Caddys will likely become rebadged Chevys now that Opel is gone. Interesting to see as there were a few Opel items rebadged over here, the Buick Cascada and Regal come to mind.

This will be interesting to see how GM plays this out.
