Screwy Winter in Michigan

Featured Replies

It's been a screwy winter here in Michigan. The weather has been alternatingly warm (above freezing) and cold. Somedays in lower Michigan we get snow and other days we get rain. The Great Lakes have not frozen over at all this year, while two years ago we had a record cold winter where the lakes froze over completely for the first time in decades. Now  to prove it, the National Weather Service published this satellite photo of Michigan indicating where the snow fall is and isn't. Clearly there is a dividing line between southern and northern lower Michigan.

Right now there is a light dusting of snow in my driveway from an overnight lake effect squall. Other than that, there is no snow on the ground. This weekend, the temperature is expected to be in the low 50s and that dusting will be history.

So JUSTA6, Indymanjoe, notallthere (Mr. Sarnia Ontario) and I have not had too much to shovel this winter) thankfully.

I assume this is from the Nor'easters that the east coast has been getting hammered with of late.

Naw, it's from the clouds, about 1000' straight up.

I didn't realize the Lauertians had that much cloud-t.

Only used the snowblower 3 times so far this season.  And I'm not complaining.

Just broke 30 for today in the mitten.  Expected to reach 50's this weekend.

I expect to be in the mid-70s in Charlotte NC (a.k.a GE land) this weekend, which is where we are headed Saturday morning.

Define cold Florida boy. You have to wear something other than shorts and flip flops because you are in Chi-town in February?

It was in the 40's today in Chi-town, that's not cold.

It is for someone from Florida who thinks 60 is cold.
