MAF Sensor cleaning

So I'm trying to run down the P0174 code that the Bonneville is throwing at me. System Too Lean (Bank 2). I'm thinking I have a dirty MAFS. I just read that there was a GM service memo put out to technicians about heavily pre-oiled aircleaners causing MAFS fouling. This makes sense considering this issue came up after I installed that oily K&N filter lol.

 

Anyone have any tips for cleaning it? I know I have to be extremely careful with the filaments and not to use any heavy solvents. I have a can of CRC MAFS cleaner, I've also heard that q-tips and rubbing alcohol works too.

spray the maf cleaner on it and have a fantastic day...

Fixed it? Maybe. No clue. SES light went off, then came back on for a few hours, then went back off again. Me thinks vacuum leak.

get one of those propane torches you solder plumbing with and just turn the gas on and wave it around the engine when it's running..easiest damn way ever i found the vac leak i had on the GA years ago..

the SES/CE light is intermittent. Its been coming and going randomly. Guys over at Pontiac Bonneville Club said if it was a post-MAF vacuum leak it would be constant. Faulty/dirty HO2 sensors can cause it to come and go. I hope they aren't a pain in the ass to find and clean/replace.

You should buy a bluetooth OBDII dongle and install the torque app on your phone, if you have an android phone.  It is a very cheap solution that allows to you read codes and log sensor data. Could help you diagnose your intermittent issue.
