Getting ready to install new convertible top and need to replace the satin windshield headers.  They are a S.O.B. to remove!  Once all the screws are removed, mirror bracket, visors, and rubber valance seals they still won't budge!  As I suspected, there is a bead of body seal along the perimeter of each one that holds like iron!  A little heat with a heat gun or a hair dryer will make this task much easier.  Carefully pry them off.  Mine were rusted through in spots so it made it easier .  You might want to remove the windshield trim first.  It may make reinstalling them much easier.

Excellent tip. My '72 originals are in "fair" shape but I will eventually need to replace them.
