  1. Nice! Last time I saw one of those was in a dealers show room in 1977! Forgot all about them 'til now. If you don't mind me asking, how far and roughly how much did the transport cost? I am looking at a "fixer upper" about six states away...............pm me if you like.
  2. Mastercraft?!!! Don't know if I would admit to that!! Just kidding! Glad to see another skiier on the site. Welcome aboard.
  3. "Up Grades are a good thing..........oh sorry honey, I wasn't talking about you!"
  4. I just can't get over this one! I have to keep reminding myself that this car was a prototype in 1964! Delorean was so far ahead of his time. When I look at that Banshee I see late 60's Firebird tail lights and corvette styling that wasn't seen for several more years. Even the front end reminds me of my 95 formula. I'd give my left one for that car............but yea, it probably should be in a museum . Kudos to the moderator and you guys posting in this section. I really enjoy seeing and reading about the forgotten classics!!
  5. Welcome aboard! I'm just an "old guy" here and some what new to this site myself. I have owned a few late 60's Ponchos and a 70 GTO myself. All long been sold. You've got some great cars. I currently have a 95 Firebird Formula. It has the LT1 5.7 liter engine with a six speed manual transmission. (Basically it is a iron block with aluminum heads, port fuel injected 350 cu. inch small block GM motor.) The Firebirds, Camaros and Trans Ams are all of GM's "F" body line. My 95 Formula belongs to the "Fourth Generation" group, ie; 93 thru 2002 which was the last year of production for the "F" bodies. I also have a 2004 GTO. It is basically a Holden (one of GM's divisions in Australia) "Monaro" that has been re-badged and called a GTO. These were produced from 2004 to 2006 with the latter 2 years receiving the 6 liter LS2 engines, and were available with an 4 speed automatic or a six speed manual transmission. The car was made in Australia and all though it wears the Pontiac badge, myself as well as many don't really consider it a "American Muscle Car". (It would have been nice if GM would have at least given it a hint of styling cues from the early GTO's and made it here) It's performance does live up to the GTO name as it has the 5.7 liter LS1 V8 engine (350 cu. inch/350 H.P) and really does "scoot"!. This is an all aluminum block and heads engine that was the fore runner to the LS2, LS3 engines. These engines are referred to as "LSX" engines because like the early Pontiac motors, these blocks support different displacements. This one has a 4 speed automatic transmission so my wife can drive it too. And finally I also have a 96 Bonneville with the popular "3800" series V6 and auto transmission. Like so many of these of this era, this one is a "peeler" and now needs a paint job.
  6. So now that you have had it in on for a while, how do you feel about it? Do you get any of that dreaded "drone" at highway speeds? I have a SLP muffler similar to yours (only it is 3" in and dual 2 1/2" out) that I am thinking about installing on my LT1 Formula. I listened to your YouTube video and it sounds like it comes alive when you give it some throttle.
  7. Yea, and if I run out of stuff to do to "The Bird", there is still the 04 GTO.....................
  8. Got a few things stacked in the corner of my shop waiting on me..............SLP Level 2 suspension (Bilstien Shocks and Eibach Springs), New Strano Performance Parts (larger) front and rear sway bars and end links, Firehawk Style Composite Ram Air Hood with WS6 Airbox, Aluminum Drive shaft, SLP Throttle Body Air Foil, Skip Shift Eliminator, C5 Brake upgrade, SLP LT4 Exude Honed Exhaust Manifolds, Custom Exhaust to replicate SLP "TOTL" ( Two Out The Left), new clutch and eventually new carpet and new leather seat upholstery (front seats). Who knows.......after I get this all done I may get a wild hair and pull the motor and go thru it and re-paint the car. Somebody stop me!!!!
  9. Thanks guys! Little by little I will get a handle on this stuff. I have a few more mods planned for "The"Bird" so now I will be able to share. I'll try to make the pictures a little bigger next time as well as do a better job of start to finish.
  10. This picture is of the new shifter installed with the "Short Stick" This is also from Hurst, But the spacer is from TNT Motor Sports. The spacer is needed to set the shifter in the correct position. You can see this in the photo of the original shifter. OK, I didn't completely remove the console, I just loosened it enough to get the primary dust boot off. A universal joint on the end of a 1/4 drive ratchet made it possible although some what difficult. Next picture is everything all back together again with the new knob. I really didn't re-size anything.....don't know how to do that yet..LOL doing good just to get this far.
  11. I didn't think to take pictures until I was 1/2 way thru it but here we go........... Above is both shifters, the top is the new one. Below is a picture of the "cup bushing" that fits at the end of the shifter into the transmission. The next picture is of the end of shifter that fits into the cup bushing. The cup bushing is plastic and is considered as a "wear item" so while I was there I thought it would be a good idea to replace it.
  12. OK FINALLY! SO here is a couple pictures of "The Bird". Next post will have pics of shifter change out.
  13. Thanks Killerspeed........working on it, wife just put pics in photo bucket, now I just have to learn how to "cut and paste" I am soooooooooooo NOT a computer guy!
  14. OK. so now I have the pictures in my email. Just have to down load them I guess? UGH! The wife is going to have to help me with this...........You guys make this all sound so easy.......I'm more of a "Hardware Guy". If it's broken, chances are I can fix it, if it it needs built, I can probably build it........ this "Software" stuff just baffles the crap out of me..........
  15. So what happened to all the pictures?
  16. Just installed a GM/Hurst oem short throw shifter with a short stick and Hurst leather wrapped knob in the "Bird" Wow! What a difference! Toughest part was removing the center console. The rest was a breeze! Next will be new shocks/springs and sway bars. ( I have pictures on my cell phone but I don't know how to get them from the phone to here)
  17. Am I the only Cheifs fan here? (I mean FRUSTRATED Cheifs fan)
  18. Wagon wheels belong on............well wagons. REAL WAGONS and NOTHING ELSE!
  19. Bought my first Pontiac back in 1980 (A 1968 Grad Prix) Because it had a Ram Air 400 engine in it and I liked the hide away head lights, bucket seats and factory 8 Track tape player. Had a Tempest shortly after because the GP puked and I ran across it cheap. ($1,800.00 back then if I remember right) Now I have a 95 Formula M6 LT1 T top car. I like the looks and styling MUCH better than the chevy version. Bought it cheap ($1,400.00) from my stupid brother in-law with a blown head gasket. Always wanted a M6 car. 9 years ago bought a 96 Bonneville with 82K with some kind of paint splattered on the side of it from one of my wife's co-workers. Sold it to us cheap ($3000.00) because of the paint splattered on it. Said the body shop he took it to couldn't get it off. I got it off the same night we drove it home with some "Goof Off" I bought at Home Depot. Now just purchased a bone stock 04 GTO (yea, I know it's just a re-badged Holden Monaro) But it is a LS1 car with a A4 so my wife can drive it too. Biggest thing I guess is that I got into all of these cars really reasonable, and I like the performance and styling. To me that is what Pontiac was always about.........performance and styling.
  20. Welcome from one newb to another. I think the turbo GTP's are pretty cool cars too. Almost bought one for my wife a couple years ago until I discovered it required premium fuel......ugh....btw my 4th gen LT1 m6 will get 27 mpg on the highway IF I keep my foot out of it!
  21. I must of goofed it up with out realizing it. Thanks for the fix. Still looking for pictures. Never really was much on pictures but I know we've got some where. Just not enough hours in the day lately........
  22. Yes a REAL first aid kit. Also go down to the drug store and buy a LARGE bottle of eye wash, an instant ice pack, and a decent size box of gauze bandage in addition to the first aid kit as most kits are fairly weak in these areas.
