  1. haha no worries.. i have no plans on cutting the coils.. i have been playing this game long enough to know how much that sucks.. the only reason i considered clamps is because my first car already had clamps when i got it.. and for the amount i horsed on it, especially at autocross i was impressed that i never once had a problem im going to see if i can get a hold of some equinox sport springs and take some measurements.. also not sure on the set up of the montana vans but they seem to be a bit lower to.. might try and take some measurements there
  2. i have been there done that, as well as just heating springs and it does work awesome.. for a while i would rather just clamp the coils though if it came down to it mainly if i could find spring from another car with the same diameter and about an inch or 2 shorter would be plenty happy thanks guys
  3. oh.. i just got n3wbed that is advice for mods pretty that thing up and ROLL who needs power when you got luxury
  4. just jokes.. if you were driving around in a torrent you would want to shave ever ounce to squeeze what you could out of it to!! but carbon fiber interior is an awesome way to go! and its definitely far from over done!
  5. PS.. if you wire in a second smaller battery such as a lawn mower battery or a boost box battery.. how do you wire that in? or does it just wire in like a CAP?
  6. HOLAY where on earth did you find room for a 32 inch tv in other news though definitely go for the big 3 wire upgrade.. we just did this in my buddies 98 civic.. and i must say.. not only is it starting and running better BUT the stereo is soo much more solid..
  7. i have an 06 torrent, an 89 chev half ton, an 89 chev 1 ton and a 93 ford ranger and just me!
  8. bypass it take the extra HP and run! also better for your fuel economy!
  9. this is what i liked about the torrent i have driven quite a few SUVs, and i have driven lots of vans, but the torrent.. the torrent feel like a car you dont sit to high up, and the FWD seems to eliminate the lag (especially uphill) that most SUVs have, its very responsive and it doesent feel like your trying to stop a 4000 pound tank.. so next time your mother is in the market for a new car.. make her test drive one! haha
  10. if i was upgrading the front i would replace the factory tweets to and i think alpine is the way to go IMO they have phenomenal high and low range sounds depending what your into.. with the tweeters replaced i think you find a perfect balance
  11. thanks for the welcomes guys! anxious to get going on her and get some more pictures!
  12. @ emily there is only one way to learn these things and thats to jump in doing interiors requires you to be real delicate and patient i know here in ontario its an extremely common site to see people with gutted interiors who are slowly putting them back together the best advice we can really offer you is to get yourself a haynes repair manual for your car after that if you have question concerns or need advice post some pictures! it makes it a lot easier for us to understand what it is you are aiming for! but dont give up frutration and a sense of humor are a must for these things!
  13. yeah i have been looking like mad.. only suspension i can find is OE fit and spec.. hard to find any bolt on mods for this car.. good thing though i love a challenge! although.. i suppose the equinox is almost exactly the same never thought about parts for it or from it
  14. some of that stuff you are probably better off custom fitting have you considered shaving the handles? i know its far off if you are aiming for complete resto and almost forbidden for genuine auction purposes but it is however becoming quite popular in some of these classics
  15. i would say yes as long as the paint does in fact match!
  16. juicing a van.. never.. EVER however adding a turbo might not be a half bad idea.. not only can you get the kids to soccer faster, get the meat home from the grocery store before it thaws but! if your girlfriends husband comes home early.. makes for a quick innocent looking get away.. haha but really IMO performance mods dont belong in family vans or most modern day ute's if you want to do somthing with it.. mod the interior and exterior ...performance wise - aim for better economy and maybe a nice sound i have always been a fan of pimped vans!
  17. Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone had any information for me as to where i could find a lowering kit or if there are springs i could use from another vehicle to bring mine down.. i dont wanna slam it by any means but if i could down her by 1-2 inches to give it more of a wagon look (photoshop proven) i think it would look a lot better! any help would be awesome thanks!
  18. those work well.. there is also that stuff you use to seperate your lawn rom your driveway.. its like a black plastic also works well!
  19. i just ordered my cross drilled brake lines through them.. but im waiting for my round tuit to come in so i can figure out how to install them!!
  20. Thanks ghost! hopefully get some work done on it within the next couple weekends just to pretty it up and make it a little less soccer mommy looking! no worries.. not aiming for a wing or flames though haha
  21. that does look really awesome i have been trying to find a way to get some carbon fiber into my torrent.. you know.. so i can add like 100WHP
  22. thanks for the welcomes! hopefully these picture links work more pictures to come now that canadian winter is slowly running away!
  23. Hi new pontiac driver from the great white north! well im going to put this up front.. im a ford guy.. die hard BUT! a few months ago i had to sell my F 150 project, and my ranger is in progress for what was supposed to be this race season.. though it looking like next race season due to some things my dad wants me to do on his truck as well! ANYWAYS about 4 months back i was up between just driving my ranger in as is condition or doing it right and parking it.. so i trip to a few dealerships later i found a soft spot for this lonely car for under 10 grand! way below what i had expected but of course i had to do some thinking and research.. a few days later i brought home my 2006 pontiac torrent.. 3.4L Black, XM Radio, Cd Player, Power Seats, AC and a HEATER.. Airbags, Automatic.. coming from a guy who has driven and built nothing but pro street worthy truck from the earlier to mid 80s this was like stepping into a porche for me! first auto transmission, first real working heater, heated seats?! i still havent gotten used to the luxury so anyways the weeks have passed now i still love my torrent.. has a few issues here and there, none the less its come time for me to start prettying her up so yet another forum to join, more friends to be made. hope to talk with some of you soon
