door hinges

as you can probably tell I bought my 70 lemans convertible a year ago and have been chipping away at it fixing things, going to replace drivers door hinges next , so far iv'e fixed the temp issue, previous owner had a mech put on a intake and carb and electronic ign, nice but he put on a aluminum fan that bolted to water pump and didn't extend into the shroud, he put in a 4 core alum radiator and electric fan and had him run 20w50 in it and ran a 160 thermostat was fine going on highway got to 210 with electric fan in traffic, I put in stcck fan and clutch set up went to 195 thermostat and 10w30 ,stays at 195 and haven't used electric fan since, also found he put on the edelbrock carb but never adjusted it I had to turn idle screws and choke was way to rich, starts cold now and doesn't load up, but looking at hinges can't figure a easy way to get at bolts, please tell me I can do it without taking off the fender.

Hello Bob,

You need a set of SAE S-shaped wrenches. The link has them at Harbor Freight below:

You can get door hinge rebuild kits with new bronze bushings and hinge pins that fixes most problems. Though some previous owners wait too long which cracks the original bushings and wears out the outer holes. Welding and re-drilling to size can fix these problems, too. Lots of You Tube videos on how to do the rebuilds.

Or you can ship them off to Willie Wilson to have them professionally rebuilt. He has brilliantly redone four hood hinges for me that still work perfectly.
