Approaching the pointy end of our 4 week holiday now. Spent the last 2 days on a dairy farm just out of Kohukohu. Were here last time too - what a beautiful part of the world. Not a sound at night...OR through the day. I want to move here but am once again being met with some resistance. Lots of untrafficked gravel roads on which to slide the Pontiac on...my main reason for wanting to come here!

The pics are various aspects from our friend's house - simply unbeatable. The farm comprises something like 2000 acres. I would kill for that sort of solitude. I said I would kill..

  • We’re all good here. Aged 20 years from stress but about the only damage. Got really lucky things went the way they did. Hope everyone else in Florida fared well!

Godammit - all the crap to go with the above pics I wrote disappeared. I can only write brilliantly once a day.

Milking time occurred whilst I was blissfully asleep - one of the few advantages to getting older is watching younger peeps toil.

The pics from the top:

Sunset at Russell, some sheep on State Highway 1, the top of the north island at Cape Reinga and the hellhole we're staying at tonight in Cooper's Beach. Absolute beachfront studio apartment. Now I gotta listen to the damn ocean all night. Apparently the best fish & chips EVER come from a shop just down the road. I consider myself somewhat of an authority on all things fishy & chippy so I'm looking forward to critiquing their offerings.

Translation: Work fascinates me, I could watch it for hours, preferably with a cold beer and sarcasm.

I no longer work hard but I have done in the past and I have no problem lounging about whilst others work. I've done my bit and am now reaping the rewards after decades of being taxed to death, early starts, late finishes, nightshift, working with idiots (often the ones in charge) and sometimes working multiple jobs. Bring me another drink, bitches!

After a hellish night of listening to the waves breaking on the shore, we drove south for a few hours and are staying in Tutukaka - another gangwar hotspot. Our hotel room is across from the harbour with the most beautiful little sheltered beach just a stroll away. This is almost the end of the holiday. We fly out early Thursday, so are staying in a budget airport hotel room in Auckland tomorrow...that's gonna be fun.

Thanks for having a read and I hope you enjoyed the trip. We had an awesome time - such an incredibly beautiful country. So good to catch up with the Kiwis in Taupo and although unlikely I'll be back, if I'm invited I am always polite enough to turn up. Just sayin..'

i was telling Fitzy we will come in via houston and spend some time in the southern states too. so an interary is required ...

and i am sooo not buying a toy !! the exchange rate is crazy low ! and shipping is still crazy high ..........( boss is looking over my shoulder as i type ..............) :)

i feeel a need for a gto !!!!!!!!

Sorry - Kiwi - no Bubba Gumps in our neck of the woods. They are located heavily in the south. Closest ones to us here in Michigan are in Gaitlinburg Tennessee or Bloomington Minnesnowta. There are seafood joints around, just not Bubba Gumps. We have Red Lobster though.

Heck, we are just now starting to get Chick-fil-A restaurants' up here in the north.

Food for thought - in 2026 - the POCI Convention will be held here in Pontiac for the 100th anniversary of Pontiac. I think the dates are June 23-27.

My wife would go nuts looking for seashells if she had that much beach to herself. Nice.

Frosty,

Where did you get that emoji of the smiley face that is laughing, laying on it's side and pounding it's fist? I'm looking on Internet and don't seem to find it.

 Neal - if you tap the emoji icon (just above where you're reading this) and scroll down to the end, you'll see it and plenty more. It took me months to figure it out.

Okay: so now it's tits, lobster, Tony's (got bacon?) beer and a slightly used GTO for him to take home. Got it.
