Transmission Problem HELP

Hey guys,

Brand New to this group and just the first Question.

My Super Hydramatic dont Shift from the first to the second gear.

How can i found out whats the problem?

I read about a Covener, vacuum modulator or maybe the rods who are responsible for the issue.

Is there a vacuum modulator or a coverner to check?

What should i check first ...thanks in advanced for your recomendations.

BR

Dennis

Hi Dennis . Check your shifter linkage is adjusted correctly .. as in drop the link where it hooks to the trans and have someone move the shifter through each section … that’s the easiest first job

check your fluid level with the trans warm and in park with motor running

check the vacuum line from your manifold is hooked

I am not sure if the governor will stop shifts from 1 to 2 …

if all that looks good .. it’s something internal

and you need a super hydro guy … mine lives 40 mins away from me … but I am on the other side of the planet

I do have the whole service book at home

but I am currently at work … I will have a read when I get home tonight and come back to you 👍👍👍👍

Hey man,

I got the Shop manual here...didnt check cause i was not 100% sure what Transmission is in the car.

I will check if everthing is connected right...cause i didnt changed the adjusments of the rods at the carberator.

The car dont shift from 1st to 2nd gear.

Btw. Is a bit louder noice in P normal compared to D?

Thanks for your help...i really appreciate it

Dennis

the rod connected to the carb is controlling kick down

not up shift .

the rod you need to check is from your column shifter where it connects to the transmission

as these girls get older the linkage needs adjusting
