True.....how many cars do we think Kiwi will buy once he's set loose in America? Especially if we stop by Southern Motors or Vanguards - both are classic car dealers in SE Michigan / Metro Detroit.

how many can you fit in a forty foot container ?

Many years ago, I arrived in Chicago just before Christmas - it was -18°! I looked around for a coupla days but was NOT prepared for such conditions, so caught the train to LA. As the train trundled thru the snow covered countryside I could peer into endless backyards where all manner of collectible cars were sitting outside slowly rotting away. I couldn't believe that such automotive gems that would be revered in Oz were left to the elements. Anyway, my point is that there are probably still heaps of cars to save, but Frosty and I are not going to let you squeeze 8 cars into 2 containers!

I thought the plan all along was to have him show up at Dream Cruise time, pickup a cruiser for the time he is here to enjoy the Woodward experience and ship it back home when he's done to sell for profit.  :driving:  Sent him the link for Southern Motors to check out the eye candy, but he was interested in a car in Minnesota at the time.

I figure if they show up - a trip to Southern Motos AND a trip to Vanguards are in order.

Justa - in case you haven't been to their place in Plymouth its pretty cool too. I was there justa before COVID hit.

Twice the eye candy for Kiwi. More auto porn he can't resist. The more 40' containers he's going to need or some place to store them (like a garage mahal) temporarily.

My only problem with Southern and Vanguard is they think everyone one of their cars are worth Barrett-Jackson money. I've seen some of these cars up close. They are nice cars to be sure but is it worth a $100k, probably not.

Edited by Frosty

Van guard has always been stupid Money.  Southern is top end of real world prices we have discussed here before.

Agreed - I just wish both would get more real on their proces. Just because you have a 69 Charger R/t with a 440 doesn't mean that it is immediately worth $100k. It may well be a $30k based on how many miles are on it or how crappy the car really is. I would just hate to get caught paying for a pig in a poke (e.g. an expensive POS).

Sounds like fun to me !!!

I like shopping but

no way am I looking at 100 k cars !

I would be in the 20 to 30 k nice clean

even stock / not stuffed around with type cars

So am I. That's why I kind get mad going to some of these places. They act like it's B-J when you walk in their doors.

i have never liked car sharks mate!! ( thats kiwi for a guy who sells cars at a yard) they get the hair up on the back of my neck with their hard sell bs.....

i want to tell you a story! you know my plum crazy hellcat ?

i took my 2011 394  red challenger  to a car  yard that had the plum crazy 2016 hellcat ... i traded the red one in on the plum crazy hellcat, i had wanted a hellcat ever since doing a 4 day crazy trip to new york to see the release of the demon.

i arrange to pick the new toy up and it was supposed to be ready for me... the car shark banged on about how they had it ready to go for me but he could not be there, so he had one of the other sharks do the hand over...

well i paid a shit load for this car right... it had justA 230kms, it was brand new... i get there and the car was covered in water marks!

it was parked in their show room and there was like 10-15 odd customers looking at MY hellcat... i walk in and think wow! he i go ! i have a brand new car.... i start looking and spot all the water marks.... the f-ckers had not even detailed it... i refused to do the deal until they clean the f-cking car properly... i was paying over 100k for this thing... its going to be clean!!! REAL clean!!

i walked out the door and told them they have to deliver it to Taupo... F_CK them... i was mad as!!

so the car shark i had done the deal with rings me and say yes yes we will clean and polish the car and ship it too you....!!! this is where it gets bad!!

car gets delivered to me a week later, they must of had the boy polish it and he had not taped off the strips!! ( my hellcat has twin carbon fibre look strips from nose to tail over the hood , roof and boot) the polishing had cut the decals!!!

i am on the phone to the mother F_CKER and i am sooo not nice to him!

now he has to replace the decals at HIS cost at my sign shop guys place as i dont trust the car shark any more full stop !!!

i call my sign guy... he arranges directly with the car shark and 2 weeks later, i finally get my hellcat, polished correctly, and all new decals!!

what a mess...!!!

so thats my soap box moan about cars sharks!!

Car salespeople have never had a good rep. In your case, you'd think they'd get it right when a customer comes in and is dealing with 6 figures. Unfortunately,  you had to scream and yell in order to get the service that was due to you without the histrionics.

Ages ago I found a clip on YT and it was an ad for a yard somewhere in the US and went for a coupla minutes. The salesman doing his pitch for the yard's owner was obviously not happy with his employer and may have had a fortifying drink prior to filming but it was hilarious listening to him bag the cars he was supposed to be trying to spruike and also serving the owner some insults along the way. I'll try and find it and post a link. Yes, still bored.

I have seen this one before. It's still hilarious. Thanks for reminding me of that oee. The TV censors would have dropped a huge one if that actually made it on the air back in the day. Too funny! Thanks mate!
