1978 Bonneville Brougham bumper impact strips

Recommended Posts

Anybody have any idea where I may find the impact strip for the front bumper of my 1978 Pontiac Bonneville Brougham as well as for the rear bumper and the impact strips for the front and rear bumper guards? I’ve included pictures to give somebody an idea. The front impact strip is broken right in the center and the impact strips on the bumper guards could stand to be replaced080E46CC-7784-4F14-BA1B-4D973FE3B107.thumb.jpeg.e19b646c3d97ddce0afaf8d7309a17a8.jpeg50B4AE78-9D67-484B-A7C8-B9637991717D.thumb.jpeg.54d09bd380185f8e251d6a20d9e516aa.jpeg

No one (that I know of) reproduces this stuff for these late 70s giants. Buying new old stock (NOS) pieces from eBay, Hemmings, Kijiji (Canada), or perhaps Craigslist is your best options.

Your next best option is try to find real good used ones at a reputable salvage yard. Frank's Pontiac Parts and Desert Valley Auto Parts might be places to start.

Lastly you can try searching / buying anything for popular Chevys from that era like El Caminos and Caprices that might have some re-pops and trying to make them work.

JUSTA6 yeah the bumpers are really solid. The rear bumper has some spots where the chrome is off and there’s some rust. Someday I’ll find a place that does high quality rechroming and get it redone. I found I can really make the shine come out even better if I use 0000 grade steel wool and some Bar Keepers Friend mixed with water into a paste to scrub them. Worked well for getting the yellow out of the turn signal lenses mounted in the front bumper. Frosty thank you for the insight on where I can look to find those pieces
