The Rovio-developed series has already explored the seasons, Rio, space and even the <a /tag/star+wars/'>href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/star+wars/"><em>Star Wars</em> universe</a> (twice, actually). All of those games have involved little more than slingshotting very angry birds into very rickety buildings.<br /><br /><em>Angry Birds Go!</em> is a different take on the series' formula, as the only flinging and slingshotting that will take place is on the start line. That's right, <em>Angry Birds</em> are going karting, in a new game that will hit mobile stores on December 11.<br /><br />The basic formula borrows rather liberally from the path blazed by <a /tag/mario+kart/'>href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/mario+kart/"><em>Mario Kart</em></a>, but sticks largely to the <em>Angry Birds!</em> universe. That means players can choose from different pigs or birds and pick up bonuses during the race that can be used to terrorize their opponents or increase the performance of their car. Players will also have the ability to upgrade their cars, improving the performance for an even larger advantage. It might sound weird, but this isn't the <a /2012/03/18/angry-birds-makes-the-inevitable-transition-to-formula-1-with-ko/'>href="http://www.autoblog.com/2012/03/18/angry-birds-makes-the-inevitable-transition-to-formula-1-with-ko/">franchise's first foray into the racing world</a>.<br /><br /><em>Angry Birds Go!</em> will be available as a free download on December 11. Rovio hasn't announced which platforms will be getting the new title, although we'll wager that both the <a /tag/apple/'>href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/apple/">Apple</a> iOS and <a /tag/android/'>href="http://www.autoblog.com/tag/android/">Android</a> operating systems will have day-one access.
