  1. Its a fun little SUV to drive around. I've got some minor stuff to tackle , like the driver seat is messed up like someone had a massive gangster lean going on... It leans back a little much for my liking but it can be fixed easily.. I'm going to redo the stereo in it as some one had no clue what they did when they installed it.. Again no major issue but I do hit the face plate when I shift into third... Last little thing is the drivers door won't unlock properly if it gets locked.. Gotta sit there and mess with it but it will eventually unlock.....
  2. Hey everyone. As most of you know I have an 01 GTP that I can't drive due to engine failure as a result of a shop here. I ended up purchasing a 98 ford explorer today to get back and forth to work /groceries etc ... until my car is fixed. The explorer has a 4.0 V6 with a 5spd.. Its got brand new tires, new ball joints, new brakes, new u-joints, brand new air conditioning unit ,newer clutch, new trailer hitch and a couple other things I'm probably forgetting... I picked it up for 1,500 out the door. Its got a lot of miles but mostly highway and it still has very good get up and go.. I'll post pictures up as soon as my camera is charged up.
  3. Last night I went to look at the truck... It was dark outside the car lot was closed... I brought my flash light with me and from what I can see, the frame looks solid, the rear spring shackles on the leaf springs will need to be replaced but they aren't terrible yet (my 92 f-150 was worse ,but I replaced those easily myself) .... and it looks like there was a minor accident in the front end because the valance that sits below the grill and headlights was crunched in slightly... no big deal as this is a truck and used as a truck all its life... I'm going back tuesday during the day with cash and I'll see what happens....
  4. well a little update..... not a good one... The place refuses to take blame on screwing my engine up.... Now I've sent out a sample of oil in a container to a place that will tell me exactly what is the oil.... I've also got a lawyer involved because of this. In the mean time I'm looking for another set of wheels while my 7,000 dollar paper weight sits in the garage.... The one good thing to come out of this is my GTP will not see winter/salt etc.... I don't expect this car to be even remotely ready to see the road again til at least spring time... Tuesday I'm going to look at a 94 F-150 with a straight 6 and 5spd ..... poopy part of getting a truck it will cost me 3 dollars more a month in insurance and fuel costs shouldn't be too much more than the GTP...... When the GTP is all done and ready to be driven I'll turn around and sell the truck to make some money back.....
  5. sooo........ My GTP has lost its engine..... After having all the gaskets done about a month ago and most recently the main tensioner/idler pulley let go (had all the work done at a very reputable place here and actually a former employer of mine which makes it even more difficult to deal with) Anyways I was driving home yesterday and I heard some slight knocking under acceleration..... Got the car home and let it sit for a couple hours.... I drove it to pick my son up at school and on the way to his counseling appt I stopped at the place that did the work on my car... It was knocking and they said it sounds like a rod or piston slapping..... Well I couldn't leave the car there because of my sons appt... Drove the car to the place (babied it too) .... parked it and went in for Landon's appt... Left the appointment and drove home(babied it again), well I came around my corner and the noise got really loud and then the car died... It did restart right away so I got it into my garage and let it sit all night.... This morning I went and purchased a brand new drain pan from the local hardware store which is a block away from my house so I walked.... drained the oil and it came out like water from a faucet... You could also see the shavings/metallic floating in the oil... The coolant was actually settling on the bottom of the new drain pan.... so I poured the oil into a clean container that had not been used for anything so there was no chance of anything contaminating the oil any further... I then asked my mom as she was standing there watching me while I did this if she could give me a ride to the place with the oil so I can show them.... Needless to say when we got there the GM of the place was not happy and very few words were said from anyone... I let him keep the oil too as I have plenty more chocolate milk in the garage...... He then had me have my car towed over there so they could look at it.... BTW I took pictures of all this stuff as it happened to save my ass in case the place didn't want to take blame for fubaring my engine..... This is also why I had my mom stand in as a witness to view what I was doing so they can't say I "doctored" this up in anyway shape or form.... So yeah thats my day... I'm also missing a day's worth of work too.... FUN FUN
  6. I've seen a few GTPs with out it too. I'm just happy that I've got every available option for the year... I'm so used to driving with it I barely notice its even there unless I look right at it.
  7. Here's a night pic of my gauges lit up.. I did a retro-fit today with a single bright white LED in each gauge in the hud pod. I had blue LED's in the gauges before but it was hard to see them at night.... BTW sorry in advance for the crappy cell picture.. I'll get some better pics tomorrow night possibly with an actual camera. Joe you know these GTPs came stock with the Heads up display right? I added the HUD pod which contains those two gauges... Anyways sorry for any confusion
  8. That car has awesome written all over it! Can't wait to see what you do with this
  9. Whats nice is that I can see my gauges and the actual HUD display on the windshield at the same time.... Just can't wait to pick up a scan gauge.
  10. Looks good. Cant wait to see this all cleaned up!
  11. I haz gauges...... I got my hud pod in the mail the other day..... Its already painted a metallic charcoal and matches the interior perfectly.. I installed it today.. The oil pressure gauge works but is not hooked up because I'm putting an aeroforce scan gauge in its place soon... ( really I just needed to fill up a hole for now lol) The boost gauge is hooked up and working very nicely.
  12. Don't they make a hud pod for your car??
  13. I had the old GP since feb 2009..... The guy that bought it lives a block away from my moms house.... So anytime I go over there I'll see it out and about
  14. A small update.... I sold my 97 GP last week friday for 1500 cash... YAY!! but at the same time its weird not seeing the car even though its a block away from me lol. So on with the GTP..... I bought a hud pod for it and I'm currently waiting for this in the mail.... I've already got my boost gauge that I installed bright blue LED's in a few years ago( yeah that gauge has been from one car to another lol) I'm also going to purchase an aeroforce scan gauge..... That will most likely be the extent of after market gauges in the car.... Once I get the pod and everything installed I'll post some pics.
  15. Hi everyone.. I snapped some pics today while I was out and about... Let me know how you like em.
  16. I wont know how they look til tonight when I take it for a ride. I'm sure they'll be plenty bright for now though. 55 watt H3 bulbs should do the trick til I get order an 8000K HID kit for them.. These lights are full metal with glass so no chance of anything melting. I even upgraded the stock harness with a secondary relay/harness to avoid any issues since I do not know and couldn't find how much wattage/power the stock harness could take.
  17. Hey all, I've been rather busy with work, house and family but I did find some time today to break away and upgrade the fog/driving lights on my car. I went with a blue 4 inch round blazer fog light... I got a really good deal on them. I even retro-fitted the old stock brackets to accept the new light. You'll notice a bunch of washers in between both mounting tabs, those were merely a mock up but I had a buddy cut some spacers for me out of stainless steel. I even had time to install my CAI from the old GP the other day. I'll get some pics of that tomorrow but for now here's some pics of my new fog lights.
  18. Hey everyone I've got some updated pics coming very soon. Since the last pics, I've removed the red paint from the exhaust tips, had the resonator removed(it was actually the only part of the car with rust on it but hey its normal) and installed my CAI from the old GP and bought a new filter for it. I can't tell you how much I love the sound of my GTP when I first start it up....Its got that nice whistle to it from the S/C and when I go open throttle it really whines loud...
  19. Here's some pictures I snapped today... Not the best because I was sort of rushed but I'll be taking more pics tomorrow with some cool scenery. I also got rid of the EVS dealer sticker on the back.... unfortunately this was after I took pictures.... There is also a few pictures when i was parked behind my friends Monte Carlo.
  20. the red is going bye bye and its reflective paint.. CAI,TINT and a couple other things but I want to enjoy this car for a little bit before I do anything to it... Thanks guys!
