Adjuster is brand new. Why are you not all over your mechanic? The missing end HAS to be in the drum. What about the other side? Guess I've never had both sides off at the same time while doing brakes. Seems like the adjuster is side correct? If they are backwards, they would we loosening instead of tightening up the brake shoes. But, that would be the only way the loose (missing) end would be able to slip off. Justa guess and I could be wrong, but bettin the adjusters got mixed up somehow.
I agree with justA .. best question everthing in both drums !!! No way should the adjuster fall apart !!! Check everthing frosty ! Was the spring pulling the bottom of both brake shoes still in place ? Or has it broken a hook end off ? That’s the only way that adjuster came fall apart !

THanks man. I tried to post a photo but I keep getting an error. I have his fedora sitting in the passenger seat a picture of him standing beside the car under the sun visor. As nd recently got a tattoo of the car on my forearm with "DAD" for the license plate, was a tribute piece to him
Ozias ! your awsum mate !!!your doing a fantastic job and your dad is looking down and is super proud
my mate installed a sniper kit on his 389 and it failed, he got back to holly and it was a soft ware issue, so your not alone !
main thing is your doing what you love, and what your dad did to !!! you rock mate

I completely agree with grinding off the screws underneath and adding seam sealer. I have not done that yet but will likely do it when I get all four corners on jack stands for doing the brakes. If I don't grind them off, I have this ominous feeling that there is a horrible, bloody scalp laceration and a whole lotta' stitches in my near future during fuel line or brake line installation.
Rick
fitzy can relate to that
