  1. We moved into a new home in the country in September. Life out here is a little different than the city. Thus my questions: Should I worry about washing my cars with water softener salt water? The water is currently to salty tasting. Thank you in advance! God bless! Ted Feight
  2. I switched my 67 Corvette over to normal oil filters with Summit's Help, 800 230-3030. Summit also has the canister filter you are looking for. God bless and good luck with your new Toy!
  3. This is its brother, a 66 Catalina I call Barry! you have a beautiful car. I hope to see it up close some day.
  4. In 1967, I was driving a 1966 Catalina Convertible. I came home to Michigan, from working in Chicago, to find a draft notice to report the next day. I had to give the car back to the dealer; which you could do back in that period of time. After an all expense paid trip to Vietnam, I came home and bought a 1969 Camaro. It was a great car, but I always missed my Catalina. A few years ago I was travelingdown M-55 between Houghton Lake and Lake City and saw the nose of a 1966 Catalina poking out of a small garage. After finishing my business in Lake City I stopped and talked to the owner, Barry Synder. We talked about cars, clocks and his working at the Pontiac factory. I told him that I would like to buy the car if he ever sold it. I stopped a few more times when I was in the area . He was a very nice gentleman. Last fall his daughter called to tell me he had died. He left her a note asking her to give me the first rights to buy the Catalina, if she sold it. Barry had set the price. I drove over to look at it and bought it the next week. I named the car Barry.
  5. Thank you! It is a very friendly informative group of people! God bless! Ted
  6. In 1967 I had a 1966 Pontiac Catalina Convertible, silver with a black top. I came home from working in Chicago for 3 months to find a draft notice to report the next day. I had to give the car back to the dealer, which was allowed in that day. After an all expense paid trip to the far east I came home and bought a 69 Camaro. I wanted a 67 Vette, but was talked out of it. I finally bought the 67 Vette in 1984, but never found a 66 Catalina that I liked. Then while traveling to see a client on M-55 I saw the nose of a Catalina sticking out of a small garage. After seeing the client in Lake City I stopped at the house with the Catalina Convertible and talked for hours with the owner. He was an older man who did not get a lot of visitors. We talked about the car, his clocks, watches and life. I told him if he ever wanted to sell the car I would like first rights. I stopped and talked to him when I was going through from time to time. Then last fall his daughter called and said her Father (Barry Snyder) had dies. Did I remember him. I told her yes and I was very sorry to hear he died. She said he left a note telling her that she should give me first chance to buy the car and he had set the price. I drove over that week and looked it over. The price was fair, not high or low. So I came back the next week and picked it up. I named the car Barry. From what I can tell it had set in the garage for the last 10 years. Before that Barry basically loved taking it to shows. With the help of Frosty and a few of you on the forum I am making the car my own, by making a few needed changes. Hopefully, I will start showing the car in the early part of the summer. God Bless!
  7. Frosty, Thank you! I would like to get on Jon's list. Please private message me his email. I am putting the Widetrack's Dustoff meet on my calendar. We had a wonderful Christmas Thank You! I hope you also had a wonderful Christmas surrounded by lots of family and friends1 God bless! Ted
  8. Frosty, You are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you! Where do you find the list of swap meets and also car shows? I have found one intake on Ebay, but the freight is to high. The first thing I did was buy the paper Pontiac chassis shop manual and DVD build manual. The second thing I did was find two places to get parts: Original Parts Group (High Cost) and Mike Yager sent me to Ames Performance. Mike owns Mid America Corvette and is a friend. I worry about the tri power setups because I am not sure I am ready to rebuild the entire unit? I think I will go to Kalamazoo and possibly Hillard,. Westside barbell use to train me in Columbus, but that is a ways to go. Where is the Dustoff? Thank you again. My debt to you is growing! Merry Christmas and God bless! Ted
  9. Frosty, Thank you! I guess I had most of it figured out. I was just looking for knowledge. The water pump bolts is good information. The engine needs painting and if I do that, I figure I should make the intake and carburetor changes. The choke is automatic. I put a Demon on the 67 vette, a year go. It has an electric choke and works really well. I think I will put one on the Catalina, but I am open to ideas. I thought about putting tri power on, but I had that on my 60 Chevy and it was sometimes a problem tuning. Then again, Dad did give me the snap-on gauges to keep it tuned and I do still have them. Tri power would be pricey for the results? Do you know of any pontiac swap meets coming up? Merry Christmas and God bless! Ted
  10. This place is a world of knowledge. Thank you! I am thinking about changing the 2 barrel carburetor to a 4 barrel carburetor on my 1966 389 Catalina. I think I would like to use an original Pontiac 4 barrel intake, if I can get one that will work. What problems with this change will I find, with its current setup, if any? What suggestions do you have? Thank you again! Ted
  11. I will try to be there. Do you know what day it is on in 2020?
  12. That sound like a good idea. Maybe after the first of the year.
  13. Frosty, Thank you! I will watch their schedule and maybe we will meet there. I did finally find 100% or pure gas at a new Sunoco Station at Airport road and I-69. I bet I called 15 stations Google said had it. Godbless1 Ted
  14. Thank you! I have called a lot of stations here. Your’s is only the stations 2nd station I have heard of. The other is at 52 and 57. I bet you know when Gilmore has his Pontiac shows? I have been through the museum, but not to any car shows. Thank you again!
  15. The 66 Catalina I bought in the fall is pretty mint. One of the projects I am working on is a very small 1/4 inch cut on the top of the back of the bench seat on the drivers side. It is interesting that the metal back under it appears to be bent up causing the cut. I think I remember my 66 having this same problem back in 1966. Anyway my question is what is the best way to remove the plastic covers on the side and middle of the seat back without breaking them. Other than the paint and top,the car is original and I would like to keep it that way. What tools and how do I use it correctly. Sorry I have not taken pictures of the interior yet. Thank you in advance! Ted
  16. So I have three old cars and 2 need 100% gasoline with no ethanol. While going through Illinois I saw many Phillip 66 stations had it. However, I cannot find it in Lansing, Michigan. Can you help me find some fairly close to Lansing? Google is absolutely no help. Thank you in advance for any help you can be! Ted
  17. Thanks Frost! That is a lot of great information! I am running the Pentronix 3 in the 67. The interior in the Catalina is perfect except the carpet and some touch up on the dash. If you have ever sine a better with Toy 2 or 3 on it, it was one of mine. I would love to set down and talk some time. I will be putting a new interior in the 67 this winter and hit the Catalina in the spring. Although Friday I will go up and drain the gas and cover her up for the winter. Thanks again and God bless! Ted JUSTA6 Thanks! I will. Probably more in the spring. God bless! Ted
  18. until

I was there with one of my 89 Corvette.
  19. Thank you very much!!! I picked the car up last night and drove it 75 Miles to a pole barn that will be its home until spring. It did give me trouble with the engine. It looks like the previous owner, a friend that died and gave me first rights to buy it, never knew much about engines. 2 barrel carburetor, tappet covers and oil breather all leaked. I think the gas was 10 years old and I could not hardly keep it running at a stop without taking it out of gear. If I had known I would have came up and worked on it for him. With that said it road like riding on a cloud! Now I think I will start looking for a 4 barrel intake, put an electronic Demon 4 barrel carburetor on it, put, electronic points and duel exhausts. I would like your thoughts on that good or bad. I am pretty open. I own several old Corvettes and want to treat this beauty right. I do not think the car has been driven over 35 miles per hour and 1,000 miles in the last 15 years. Thank you again for responding! God bless!
  20. I have decoded the under hood plate all except the last line 4E 5Y. This was the car I had to give back when I was drafted in 1967, for my Asian vacation.
