2017 Nissan Maxima

-

Nissan’s adoption of Apple CarPlay is starting from the top down. The 2017 Maxima sedan, which Nissan calls its “flagship,” is the first Nissan or Infiniti vehicle to offer this smartphone connectivity feature. Nissan assures us that Android Auto is coming soon to its NissanConnect infotainment system, and that CarPlay will make its way to the rest of the lineup shortly—expect to see these features added as more of Nissan’s models transition into the 2017 model year.

All 2017 Nissan Maxima sedans will come standard with CarPlay capability, which makes sense given that all come standard with the same 8.0-inch touchscreen system. A Nissan representative suggested that the Murano crossover would be the next car to receive CarPlay because it has the same 8.0-inch NissanConnect system as the Maxima. Other models such as the Altima and the Rogue use a smaller 7.0-inch screen, which means that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto may be further down the line.

2016 Nissan Maxima

Other than the addition of CarPlay, the Maxima’s only other update for 2017 is the addition of a Dynamic package for the SV and a Medallion package for the Platinum, both of which include accessories including a rear spoiler, illuminated kick plates, and 18-inch wheels. Prices rise by $50 for the S ($33,395), SV ($35,375), SL ($37,875), and SR ($38,655), while the Platinum ($40,825) is up by $30.
