Not even the great, all-reliable Toyota is immune from modern software glitches. A wireless update the company uploaded to late-model Lexus models on Tuesday rendered many owners without navigation, radio controls, and other critical functions within the infotainment screen.

As of now, Lexus hasn’t come with a solution. Customers reported their Enform systems were constantly resetting while driving, while others showed flashing violet screens. Several posted their complaints via Twitter, where Lexus also reported the problem.

Many of our owner's vehicle head units stopped working. We are working around the clock to find a solution. Stay tuned for more information

At this point, it’s unclear how many cars are affected. Lexus Enthusiast recommends disconnecting the vehicle battery as an interim fix.

We’ve experienced two similar infotainment problems within the past couple weeks. In a 2017 Jaguar XF, the stereo stopped working and all audio controls on the touchscreen wouldn’t respond. In a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze, the entire screen shut off for 20 minutes, even after locking and restarting the car multiple times, even disabling the physical radio buttons beneath the display. Automakers of all stripes: Please, hire more software engineers, or at least teach them that beta stage isn’t good enough to push into our cars.
