Trunk Light Not Working

Featured Replies

Ever since I had my 02 Grand Am GT, I never recall having a working trunk lamp. I thought that maybe the bulb might of been bad or something so I swapped out the bulb with a known good one and the light still doesn't come on when the trunk is opened. I even flipped the bulb around and it still wouldn't light up when the trunk is opened.

All my other lights in the car seem to work when I open a door such as a driver or passenger door. Is there is fuse or something with the trunk light which causes it not to light up or a switch somewhere to trigger it? I'm not sure what to try next.

Step 1 would be to see if the fuse is bad. Do you have a manual? If not maybe one of the other GA guys can chime in.

Step 2 check your wires leading to it to make sure they still are getting power

I'm not sure if changing the fuse would work. My trunk is electric so when I use my remote to open the trunk, it still opens. Not sure how to properly check the wires. I do have a multimeter though.

i think the light fuse would still be separated from the trunk itself. still worth a look. and ya, try the multimeter.
