He might not be a superhero in real life, but Christian Bale is demonstrating an act of kindness that Batman himself would surely support.

The "Dark Knight Rises" star was spotted on Tuesday (July 24) in Aurora, Colorado, the site of the horrific shooting of more than 70 individuals attending a midnight showing of Christopher Nolan's third and final Batman movie last week. KDVR reports that Bale visited the Medical Center of Aurora South at around 2 p.m. local time, arriving in an ambulance. Representatives for Warner Bros., the studio behind "The Dark Knight Rises," tell TMZ: "Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers." Further details of his visit are not currently known.

This marks Bale's first public appearance since the July 20 shootings, though he did previously release a statement regarding the tragedy.

"Words cannot express the horror that I feel," he said. "I cannot begin to truly understand the pain and grief of the victims and their loved ones, but my heart goes out to them."

Other members of the "Dark Knight Rises" cast and crew have spoken out about the grisly incident as well, including filmmaker Christopher Nolan, who said, "The movie theatre is my home, and the idea that someone would violate that innocent and hopeful place in such an unbearably savage way is devastating to me. Nothing any of us can say could ever adequately express our feelings for the innocent victims of this appalling crime, but our thoughts are with them and their families."

Earlier Tuesday, Bale's "Dark Knight" co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt released his first remarks on the Colorado shootings. "My most sincere sympathies go out to the families of the victims in Aurora," he wrote on Twitter.
