Detroit Auto Show 14-25 January 2026

Featured Replies

Hello,

My near Detroit dwelling youngest son pointed out to me a bit ago that the Detroit Auto Show begins on the 14th of January through the 25th - during the time my wife and I will be there.

Anybody in the Detroit area planning to attend?

Rick

I will talk to my son. He works for our local Chevrolet dealership. Hopefully I can wrangle a free or discounted ticket through him. I'd like to go but it would definitely have to be on the weekend, which is usually the busiest days.

Hello Frosty,

My son said he found tickets for only $11.00 so already, not very expensive. I was looking through the vendor list earlier today and my impression of the vendors I expected to see was all wrong. I thought there would be more than simply the major automotive manufacturers to include at least some of the SEMA Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association companies.

I guess that is what SEMA is for and not this show. We will still attend but my expectations are now different.

Rick

Rick, Autorama's across the country/Canada and Mexico are ISCA. International Show Car Association. Shows in the venue are ranked by #of cars participating. 1 being the smallest or 5 largest ect. Detroit has always been the grandaddy being the largest indoor show. They also feature the Riddler Award, The highest award in the pro show car world. Must be the 1st time shown anywhere. Took my class International and back to back in the late 80's and 90. Sooo much work to drag your car all over the country. Set up on Thursdays and break down Sunday night after shows. Then the long truck home to be at work by 6am Monday. There are a sprinkling of aftermarket suppliers with booths set up. As you stated, SEMA is the place to visit for every-anything aftermarket.

The Detroit Auto Show is where car manufacturers showcase their latest production and concept cars and trucks. Very few vendors unless they supply to the OEMs.

The Detroit Autorama is a custom car show with lots of big name vendors. It is homr to the Ridler Award.

The Auto Show is held in January. The Autorama is held at the end of February/beginning of March.

Daaaaaa. Thought I read Autorama instead of Auto Show. Put the grandkid and bottle down while looking at the computer.
