Finally got my GTO back this weekend in time for the mall car show! Sadly I didn't win any awards, but at least I got her back, and it was a geat show!

Thanks for sharing. I find in humorous that someone in the past would actually paint a Pontiac motor Chevy or Hemi orange.

Lookin so hot. Awesome job!

Very well done sir! 64 is the one that started me into the Pontiac Madness LOL

So during last fall, on my last drive before putting her away for the winter, as I was turning left the wheel locked turning left, and could barley turned right. I finally got some free time recently to find out what had broken and to try to fix it. Here's what I found:

This guy, which is connected to the steering, was missing a bolt and small plate that the bolt held to.

So i guess at some point while I was driving, the bolt loosened and fell off. Don't know when, but the car was drving fine until I was headed home.

So what I'm in need of is another bolt like the one below, and need to find that plate as well. Any suggestions?

I assume, by looking at the picture, we are talking about the rag joint, correct?

Assuming I am correct for the moment, it looks like you have experienced rag joint failure and I would replace the entire rag joint and not just the bracket and nut/bolt. You should be able to get a replacement easily enough at your auto parts store for about $40.00.

You can certainly get them from OPGI, YearOne, National Parts Depot, etc.

Absolutely beautiful !!!! You must be one proud PaPa...
