the lever to switch from off to heat to defrost it won't move its like its Jammed I took off the cable it the cable and the lever at the heater box move fine, I see the front speaker had been removed and wonder if they dropped something on it to jam it. I look with a mirror best I can and can't see anything

Try removing the glove box out of the dash. You should have better access to the controls between the heater core box and the HVAC controls.
