Looking at a 1973 YC 455 . Both rebuilt and might have 5k on it. Plus a th400. They want "5k" for them both. Haven't seen them yet but looks like #64 heads on it . What's it worth?

Any numbers for cylinder compression or oil pressure during cranking?  Any receipts from the machine shop that rebuilt the engine?  Cam specifications - roller or flat tappet? How much of an overbore on the engine? Were the crank journals turned down and by how much?  Forged pistons? New oil pump and timing chain / gear? New water pump? Heads / valves / seats and seals redone?

Transmission rebuilt?  What got replaced? Shift kit? Valve body need reaming? Hard parts replaced? So many questions here.

Rick

All excellent questions because without that sort of info, this could be a spray can rebuild with shiny valve covers. Paying $5k or more for a fresh junkyard pull or worse,, an empty shell, will make you feel bad. Do your homework.

A decent rebuild with some go fast parts or reliable parts run $5-10k. The more horsepower you want, the price goes up.

Note to greyno3

do not run that fan if you do buy it mate !!! Thats an accident waiting to happen ….

maybe that’s a clue of what else this motor/ trans package is worthy !!!
