1970 Pontiac Firebird Orginal Delco Remy Horns

Featured Replies

Hi everyone - new to this site. I'm looking for an original Delco Remy OEM horn set for my 1970 Firebird, at least trying to find the exact correct "9000xxx" Delco Remy models numbers.  The xxx are all numbers, not to be confused with 3 digit date codes that contain letters and numbers.  Thx, Dean

Welcome to FP.  Are you lookin for new or correct used parts?

Thx.  New if available - but I'm assuming would be very rare.  Hence - looking for correct model numbers, regardless of condition.

Thx - those at NPD are reproductions.  Looking for actual factory Delco Remy - not reproductions - regardless of how bad the condition.  Yes - reproductions are widely available.

Did anyone mention how much we like car pic's round here?  Jump in on the forums and chat it up. Great bunch round here.  Never know, you might be able to help out someone else with Pontiac probs.

Does show original part #'s they replace??  Lots of Birds here, maybe someone has a parts car or spare.  NOS would be very hard to find.

yup - agreed will never find NOS.  I double checked, I do not see original part numbers for the 1970 Firebird reproductions on the NPD site. I'm gonna seek out a 1970 assembly manual to see what it shows.  thx

I would contact Franks Pontiac parts in 29 Palms California. See if they have what you need. I suspect those horns are probably used on other cars as well.

I just talked with Frank's.  They have two Pontiac horn sets on their website, 1970, and 71-74, but are listed as for 'full sized" Pontiacs.  The agent specifcially said they are not for the Firebird.  I asked if she could send me the model numbers, but she said they have no ability to do that - not a service they provide.  I'll keep looking.  Thx.

Let me know if you want a list of other classic car wrecking yards. I have a small list. These are not Pontiac specific, like Frank's is, so it is definitely hit or miss.

Thanks for the additonal tip.  I just called them and they have no current inventory.  Last week I did find a list of 20 major junk yards around the US that have or feature classic cars. I called them all - only two are in the ballpark for the 70-72 Firebird. One actually has a 71 Friebird Formula V8 (based on the VIN) - w/o knowing the exact horn model numbers - I went ahead and bought them - they are bing shipped.  The other has a set from an early-mid 70's but they didn't know the exact year - they will text me the VIN.  Between those two - I should end up with an acceptable set.  Thanks for the help - I should be good to go now.

I'd love to see your list of yards and compare it to mine. When you get a chance, please either post it here or PM me.

This is the list I used.  Some of these no longer in business. Vintage Part Source Classic Car Salvage Yards

That is most helpful.
