i have a 1953 Pontiac Tin Woodie, Straight Eight A/T.  It has 11 inch brakes, Can anyone tell me the factory width size for front and rear?   Joe

No.   The brake shoes. I bought new drums from Kantner auto and they are wider than the brake shoes that were on there. Trying to figure out if the drums are wrong or my brakes shoes need to be replaced to match the new drums. The old drums fit ok ,but were really worn.   Thanks for your input. Joe

Ah okay. I believe the fronts are suppose to 2.25" inches wide and the rears are suppose to 1.75 inches wide. The reason from the difference is the fronts do the majority of the braking so they require more surface area to bring the car to a stop.
