Well with the luck that my family has our thermostat decided to take a crap on us during this nice little cold wave we've been getting down here and at the beginning of this week it was like 30 degrees in our house and the thermostat just wasn't displaying anything so I got the pleasant job of figuring out its going bad and now I get the fun job of replacing it. I don't have any experience with thermostats and have very bad luck with electricity so obviously I'm a great choice for the job Just wondering if anyone has done this before, I figure the toughest part will be getting it off the wall and then I'll be able to figure it out from there because I assume the wires are hopefully plugs or labeled to some extent.

Anywho anyone have any tips? Comments? That hopefully will help?

i actually was watching my landlord at my house replace the thermostat and its really mostly plug and play. lots of screws though to take off the face plate and then their were 2 screws on the wall. i actually only saw 4 wires. i know 2 were for power and ground and the other 2 im guessing went to the fernus (however you spell that). hope that helps a bit.

helps a ton, thanks! I was actually really thinking it would be plug and play but now I know at least 1 is hopefully all manufacturers are. With my luck though I'm gonna have to strip wires and connect a million things

Thermostats are really easy, it's just a matter of removing the old one, and wiring up the new one, not too hard at all really, just be careful with the new one, don't want to mess it up, as they are sensitive...
