nice work mate ... i had the same fun with the sender and i found a small hole in my tank, which i soldered up!
your car looks super clean underside
Nothing is ever easy. I’m getting a slow drip from the sender. Looks like it may be coming through the screw hole. Once the gas level gets below it I will add a little round gasket around each screw. Kinda tight quarters in there to see and do anything. I can drop the tank after I burn 20 gallons

Well, it’s Kinda like spring cleaning but more like spring fixing. Another little annoyance checked of the list after an all day job. Long ago i purchase a new fuel sender. It would max out at half a tank reading. I suspected it was bent and not able to float to full extension. The only way to do it right was pull the tank and drain it, so i did. It is not easy to guess how much gas is in the tank with a car that gets 10mpg. We did run out a few times.
Getting under a tank with gas in it is not fun. After draining it i pressure washed the outside and inspected the inside. I cleaned up the mounting bolt threads so it will be easier if it ever needs to be dropped again. I used some wire to connect the sending unit with tank out of the way. It tested fine. Next, I put sending Unit temporarily back in the tank and watched it move as I leaned the tank over. I could see it with a flashlight peeking through the fuel fill neck. As I suspected, it does not fully extend. I was able to bend the sending unit until it was correct. Problem solved!

Finally found the source of the vacuum whistle. I went as far a replacing the carburetor. Turns out the gasket was torn, worn and bulged in spots. Apparently just enough to make it whistle with acceleration. I’ve been looking for the thick gasket but couldn’t find it. It actually is a cheap felpro easy to find if you know the product number. Another Bonneville problem solved!

Well, I was dealing with a grinding noise as I put the car in park. It’s been like that since I bought it a few years ago. I was thinking I needed to rebuild the steering column or buy another one. Today I tracked the noise down to the neutral safety/backup light switch. Since no one has them available, I took it apart, cleaned, and greased it. It’s not perfect since the copper tabs are kinda dug out, but much better so I can be happy with it.

Del here is the c clip in my one
And this is the part number for the one I got off rock auto
Those ears are what I was warned would cut the booster diaphragm .
easy one for you would be to just change the clip … now the plumbing
What I am going to do I will explain in pics justA for the fact it’s easier than my gibberish blah blah .. it will bore the shit out of fitzy
i will take this pipe out of the block and the pipe up to the master .
take the connection that feeds the back brakes out, add a joiner socket too that male connector (as you would have a mission trying to make a flare down in against the motor)
and make a new pipe up that connects to this port on the new master cylinder .
then make a new pipe from this port and plumb it down onto either of the open ports on the joiner block, this will feed the front brakes, then simple add a flare plug into the spare hole.
job done... bleed the brakes
Very nice instructions! Your the man! I will order it. Thank you so much for your help. I really appreciate it.

BUT
A NOTE TO WATCH OUT FOR !
I haven’t got a picture … but watch out that you do not use a master cylinder with the eyeleted clip that holds the plunger into the bore of the master cylinder ! This type of c clip will cut into the seal on the front of the boosterI will post a picture tomorrow 👍
Dang, looks like I need a different one. Someone recommended to buy this on eBay. Did you buy the one recommended at rockauto?
I'm curious how you go from one line to two? Is there and adapter block or additional line needed?

Fitzy the part number on rock auto is ce 130.62016
and I tried it on the spare booster I have and it’s a perfect fit .... remember , my 64 is drum/ drum , so this is the correct one for my factory set up but wayyyyyy safer with its dual circuits
Its about now that i love gm using generic parts!!!
So anyone reading this, and if you have a 61-68 with the single outlet master cylinder for your brakes, here is your best buy !! a factory configuration, dual circuit brake master cylinder. ( i am guessing that Pontiac used the single outlet master cylinder all the way up to 68 on the wide body cars)
This one part could be the difference between life and death if your single outlet master cylinder had a fail in any one of the four brake corners of your Pontiac .
i will, when i get time post the swap over from the old master cylinder too this dual port unit...
It will be easy as its justA plumbing
I was wondering if you did this install yet? I’m going to attempt it myself. If so, any process pictures?

I got avs2 installed and took it for a test drive tonight. I waited through the red light for 3 cycles and didn’t get the green arrow. Decided to lay some rubber through a red light. The police at the intersection didn’t like it and hit me with the flashing blue lights and siren. Maybe he liked Bonnie or Elvis my co-pilot, just gave me a warning. Go Bonnie!
It’s not fun having to chug your beer, throw the cell phone in the floor and slide the pistol under the seat all at once. Lol

i really like that radiator with shroud and electric fan !!! very neat arrangement.
i also see thats a 64 block too as its drilled for the engine mounted starter motor mounts !!
question whos your co- pilot ? pic4 and 5
what carburetor are you using ?
Thanks! The car came with the edelbrock 1406. This guy sells them https://www.ebay.com/itm/384910080026. I did rebuild it a while back. Seems good but I hear an air leak from some unknown place. My co-pilot is my new shepherd. My last one passed a while back. This is my 3rd German shepherd and he’s awesome. Big, smart, and lovable. The perfect accent to the beautiful 64 Bonnie.
Your right, I’m getting good at the engine swap after four times.

After 17 months I finally have the rebuilt original motor back in! I put 2600 miles on the loaner motor while waiting. Now I have a nice backup motor for a quick substitute if ever needed. This was the plan since motors are not getting any cheaper or easier to find. She runs great! Lookout tires, your going to get burned off! I added the electric fan to keep her cool

I’m sure you know how i feel when I say, no way I would rent. They live a few streets over. They heard from a mutual friend who we where and asked to rent. We explained we don’t rent but we would drive it to them and let them take pictures. They were kind enough to tip my son who drove it. “Nobody drives the Bonnie but me fool”.

I also need to know if I need a reverse polarity switch.
The pump is hydraulic.
I guess this shows how uneducated I am.
This is the replacement switch https://midwaymusclecar.com/products/power-convertible-top-switch-66-67-pontiac-gto-lemans-tempest
I had to replace mine as well. The only issue is the wire is not long enough so i needed to splice into existing switch wire which is no big deal. There is no fuse for this circuit. Power comes straight from battery. I would use the top sparingly.
