  1. that's a buck a litre ... no great savings on that side of the border it would seem. I'm good for around lunch. I got a request to swing by Long Lake blvd to meet the Motor City Rockets but I'll get that done early. I've seen the parking lot they're in ... my car will take up most of it.
  2. Every year I start a little lower on the blvd and see a little more during the quiet before the storm. And while the drive was an awesome experience, and the convertible fantastic ... you never owed me nuttin. If anything, I owe you for the invite, and the experience, and quite frankly, the entire Widetrackers for the hospitality to strangers. All I can offer in return is the near unique chance to do it facing backwards. If we're going slow enough, I think you're safe with the rear window down. With the hotel room in Warren, the north and south routes are both still available, but given the time we'll be arriving, I doubt the experience would be worth the detour to go through windsor. Leaving is another matter and unless something keeps us in MI beyond sunday, I'll probably take us out through downtown. .... even if it means they don't get to enjoy sitting in traffic up on the BlueWater bridge. What's the price of gas for MI and TO guys? I'm leaving here with 20G of $1.30/l
  3. Looks like it'll be the wagon. I've got a guy on an olds forum that's in SE MI that's got an 87 wagon that'll lift the front wheels off the ground ... he's dumping all the weight he can for that extra .01 ... so I'll need the room. My interior isn't bad, the the rear walls are badly UV damaged. His are the wrong colour, but if they're in better condition (and fit) I can try and dye them. There's a lot of little bezels and such that you can only really get in a boneyard ... but the ones here are totally bare. He's getting rid of everything interior behind the driver's seat so I'm making sure I don't miss something for lack of room. pass wasn't in the mailbox when I looked this morning ... fingers crossed for tonight. Even if it doesn't get here in time, Jim at OP said to speak to someone at the widetrackers (who's name I naturally can't remember) who'd call him and they'd take care of it.
  4. Naw .. I'm just in shock that they let her on a learner's is all. If she wasn't a good driver, she sure wouldn't be driving my baby.
  5. Oh Fudge ... get off the sidiewalks folks ... I just got confirmation from the MI Department of State ... All canadian licenses are reciprocal with MI ... that means Daddy's little girl is gonna be piloting 4000lbs of American Iron on the dirty streets of Detroit very shortly with nothing but her learner's permit clutched in her tiny little fist.
  6. Just confirmed that we can check in at 3am in Warren, and confirmed that my parking pass is en-route. Last time my vacation plans were this big a hash I was tenting on the east coast when a pair of hurricanes came rolling up.
  7. I'll check. Time should be stupid early. Much will depend on how the run in goes. My logistics at this point are still all up in the air. Travelling with family complicates things. Solo I'd leave at 9pm, roll all night and be there when I stop. With family, I have to consider pee stops, meals, might even need to stop to sleep. I'll already be on the back side of MTL so I don't need to worry about that traffic. It'll be well outside rush hour for Toronto by the time I get there so that's no bother either. It's all going to depend on whether or not I want to leave at 5pm and get in around 2am, take a room and get some rest ... or leave late, let the family sleep in the car on the way, and those who don't have to tough it out ... thereby saving the cost of a night's stay. Option A means it's dark and there's nothing to see. Option B means negotiating a metropolitan area after 10 hours behind the wheel. But since I'm off work Friday, I can load up on sleep before we head out. Neither are ideal scenarios, and I really haven't spent a lot of time planning at this point.
  8. Well, we're supposed to be picking up V2.0 at her work Friday at 4:30pm, then bat-outta-hell through ontario Friday night to be there for Saturday morning. I'll keep my options open since nobody's said "Don't do it, you fool". If nothing else, it'll be different compared to the last couple of times
  9. The idea has been presented to me to arrive through the tunnel from Windsor to Detroit and run the full length of Woodward. Thoughts?
  10. Scrap busters? edit: never mind, found them. Not finding any '80s B bodies in their online inventory
  11. We'll be rolling friday night to get there saturday morning. Kids will all sleep on the road. I'd hoped to roll thursday or even wednesday to have more 'tourist time' , but things work out as they work out. We'll probably hang a couple of days after to sightsee.
  12. I'd have called you, but I can't believe rust is any better in MI than QC.
  13. Don't tease me. I was already " " this close to calling Randy and Tim when this one showed up on the market.
  14. All three are in that ballpark Frosty. The Cruiser tops the list at 22G, the Parisienne at 20, and 17 for the Caravan. I'm hoping that can of seafoam with the Cruiser's last tankfull will improve the mileage some. Managed to find a town up in the Laurentians that's fighting back ... they're keeping their prices at $1.279/l ... how long they can hold it down I don't know .. but I think I'm gonna have to get serious about that propane conversion. In other news, I may have made a fatal error. This weekend, I let my 17 year old, 4'11" daughter drive the Cruiser. Not only does the seat actually adjust enough for her to sit comfortably .... she likes it. Good luck getting those keys back Dad. 7 years to find this one ... where the hell am I gonna find another one?
  15. Gas here just went to $1.479/l .... I've got a 22G tank *sob*
  16. I bought a cheap pseudo mini tripod-cum-c clamp thing to hold my digital camera ... but to go total cheap ... http://ca.cellphoneshop.net/cardvr.html
  17. They're also useful for when you get pulled over and shaken down by cops in the US.
  18. And how did an hour's driving blow out a tire that had just passed safety?
  19. I bought a replacement cat for the Parisienne (someone straight piped it in the past) Walker universal .. cost $100. a lot of what you pay for in exhaust parts is shelf cost because of all the fitted flanges and bends. Well, if you take the old one off, you've already got all of that .. just cut out the old cat and weld in the new and bolt it back on. Even having somebody else weld it up won't cost more than $20 or so. Frosty ... I was posting in a Woodward thread over at Garage Journal and I met a friend of yours from WV. He's looking forward to seeing you in oct.
