  1. Now that i think about it i wonder why i used "73gtodad" as a user name when i decided against cloning it into a GTO before joining the FP site? I don't know just like goats i guess. Also Frosty do you have any pics of your lemans (or other old pontiacs) on the site i haven't found any if you do?
  2. I also just stumbled onto this thread i'm big into tech. I am almost done with my associates in IT with a focus on networking and plan to go on and get my bacholers in software engineering. My latest projects on my network were to convert an old Dell PC into an NAS with 2.5 terrabites of external storage, and set up an VPN using Gbridge so friends of mine could "borrow" music from my collection.
  3. Ok same idea with the wheels thread, brainstorm with a bunch of Pontiac nuts to create an awesome sound system in a classic Pontiac. This like the rims and tires, is a long way off from happening but again it doesn't hurt to think ahead. I am 100% on putting either an original dash unit back in the car or a good reproduction of the original style radio. I am probably going to put an aftermarket head unit in the glove box it will have to have Ipod control or compatibility. Being an older car it only had 1 speaker in the dash (my original speaker is still there, doesn't work though) i think it is a 4x10. Then there are 6x9's in the rear those too will be aftermarket. I will probably get under seat speaker enclosures for the front speakers. Then add a amp and subs to the trunk to round it out. Recommendations are welcome.
  4. Thanks stratman and everyone else for the suggestions. Whatever wheels i end up going with will be thoroughly considered before i make the decision of course it goes with out saying that putting wheels on the car is a long way off. i felt it would be good to see what other people thought, and they might suggest something i haven't considered or thought of myself. My "restoration plan" goes; engine dress up and restoration, trans, suspension and brakes, exhaust, body, paint, interior and stereo, wheels. This is subject to change if i find a good deal on parts or some rare part pops up that i can't pass up. Wheels are last because of the high cost of show quality tires, the ones i have come across are about $215 each same with most of the classic rims and aftermarket the fact that i can get a lot more done with my money on other parts of the car is what puts wheels in the place that it is. I asked about the rims on this thread because it never hurts to think ahead and thanks again to everyone for their thoughts they are very much appreciated.
  5. Yeah the blue paint and rims are not right for that car, makes me sick.
  6. Yeah i think so it will be a great car to cruize the wife and kids around in when its done. My 4 year old already says it's hers and she cant even come close to reaching the peddles yet lol.
  7. Ok the wheel i'm thinkin about might not be the forte of most of the members here but your opinions are still valuable to me because different perspectives are great when dealin with choices like these. first the stock rally 1 rims are on the car i could clean them up and get new trim rings and center caps. or dog dish style or go with the rally 2 wheels and caps
  8. Nice classic pon-ton, all the work will be worth it in the end just don't lose hope. those seats in the pic look in pretty good shape whats the interior gonna look like?
  9. Beautiful car their is no word in english to describe the style these old cars hard just breath taking.
  10. Ok saw this thread thought id jump in. My first car was a 86 camaro i drove it about once or twice but it was a piecce of junk ended up sellin it. Next i used the money from my camaro to buy a 91 grand am from my parents drove it for a while till after graduation i think. Two years later i bought a 89 camaro rs convertable that i intended to fix up real nice moved fro my hometown of richmond, In to KY and a few years latter was ran off the road by some jerk in a big ford truck, anyway it tore up the bottom of the car. I lost intrest in the car and again bought a grand am off my parents this time it was a 95 i think, i ended up having that car until about 1 year after i got married it finally give up my wife got a ford taurus that we drove around till the year my youngest daughter was born. I then took my tax return and bought a 95 camaro, drove it until about 2 years ago when i traded my camaro to a guy for my wife to get a chevy van. then took the tax check again and went lookin for a classic car to fix up almost got a 73 corvette but was 2 days late on that deal. then found the 73 lemans in Tennessee and something about it just said "buy me" so i went and checked it out liked what i saw and bought it.
  11. which is exactly why i decided to keep it a Lemans.
  12. I emailed them back to ask about the radio you brought up a good point with that. Oh and if you wanna sell that black factory wheel let me know how much thats the color i'm doin my interior in.
  13. Hey Frosty i heard back from the guy at Eastwest auto and he gave me the prices on the interior parts i had requested what do you think? "the am radio with knobs is 85.00.the standard 3 spoke steering wheel is 85.00. the a pillar trim is 55.00 each side. the trim around the teardrop quarter windows is 100.00 each side.we also have the plastic trim around the rear window and down the sides above the door glass and front windshield if you need it. " The prices don't sound to bad to me, i actually could buy it all in one shot , i just would like your input before i decide, thanks bud.
  14. ok here are some more pictures i rounded up. you have to remember though this was when i was going to clone it into a GTO so the original grill badge is different it say pontiac 350.
  15. yeah i checked the link out and after a few minutes i figured it was the same as the other catalogs i already have, but it will be nice for price compairison.
  16. what program did you use i have Adobe photoshop but i've not played with it enough to learn the ins and outs.
  17. Thanks for the info as of right now the radio will mostly be for looks the real power will be in the glove box with a modern stereo. Maybe in the future the radio may be functional but for now it isn't a priority. As far as the dash is concerned i also lucked out as their are only two small cuts in the dash that should be fairly simple to take care of.
  18. I don't know i think you did a pretty good job and yeah i do like the colors i might play with some other combinations but i do like it.
  19. I found one on franks pontiac parts site. Again thanks for the info bud.
  20. Hey bud thanks a lot i visited the sites and found a lot of stuff i could use. I emailed a few with requests for prices and maybe some pics hope to here something in a few days. I'm most interested in an original radio for my dash, i plan to put a modern more powerful stereo in the glove box. But anyway the links were very helpful many thanks i'll let you know what i end up getting along with some pictures of them in the car. Thanks again.
  21. ok i posted some things i need for the inside and my exterior is in pretty good shape i don't need much for it. I nead a rear bumper, the rear bumper filler (plastic between the car and bumper) the rest of the car is in good shape. thanks for the help.
  22. I'm having the same problem i have a classic pontiac, i kind of have it narrowed down to hugger orange or blue color, but i also like a two tone job, or mabye solid color with a gt stripe kit aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh! see what i mean choosing colors on a car sucks lol i can't choose good thing i'm a long way from paint i have time to make up my mind if i ever do haha.
  23. Ok guys i'm putting the word out i have searched the internet a lot a have found very few interior parts for my 73 lemans. I have the standard gauges, front and rear bench seats, collum shift with a/c factory. I need: a new set of "a" pillar plastic, dash bezel (guy that had it before me cut it for a cd player arg!), all the rear quarter plastic. Any help you folks could provide would be greatly appriciated i'll try and get pictures and part #s up when i can. Again i have searched for parts cars and many sites as well as parts catalogs with little luck. These cars are hard to find parts for but it will be a great pontiac when it is done and well worth it. thanks everyone for any info or help.
  24. it has the 350 with 350 turbo hydramatic trans
  25. You sure know your older pontiacs a lot of the things you mentioned like the valve covers i am already planning on getting, Ames preformance and opg have a lot of pontiac parts, not so much for a 73 but they do have some things. They have a lot of nice pontiac gear like front plates and hats and shirts, as well as fender covers for when your workin on the engine some of the other members might be interested in those things. They also have that GT stripe kit, which i am kinda leaning towards instead of the two tone but paint is a long way off in my restoration. I'm startin with the engine and trans cause if it doesnt run it doesnt matter what it looks like. As to the hoses most have been replaced but i appreciate your concern. I have almost all the paperwork on the car going back to the day it was bought brand new as soon as i get some pics of them i'll put them up, some of you may like to see a dealership sales reciept with a new car only costing 4 thousand. oh and my origional plan was to clone the car into a GTO but i want to keep it a lemans cause you just don't see them any more.
