Iraqi Conflict

Recommended Posts

Things have been extremely hazardous in the country of Iraq these past two days...basically an Islamic militia, ISIS, started steamrolling through Iraq from the North towards Baghdad at a furious rate. Within two days they were at Iraq's capital doorstep.

Today, things have gotten worse, a lot of the US media sources are behind on real time happenings or just have wrong info. I have some friends that have been watching twitter light up like a raging forest fire with real time videos, photos and updates from civilians, ISIS troops and Iraqi troops on what is going on in real time.

Basically the Kurds have started taking territory from the North and are working their way into the country, fighting BOTH ISIS and Iraqi forces. Iran has sent in 600-2,000 of their own troops to suppress ISIS.

Obama spoke today about the conflict, but other than bring in air support and help shell ISIS in Baghdad and surrounding areas. Things are escalating more and more, all the while Russia is pushing into Ukraine again amongst this chaos.

This is seriously fucking bad, let alone all the US supplied vehicles, hardware, weapons and money ISIS has captured along the way.

Shit has been going down in Iraq and other Middle East countries far before we first intervened, unfortunately it's not going to stop because we do :(

On a positive note, that is a nice, clean website Foreign Policy has there.

Expect the media to play their usual strawmen tactics on why US troops abandoned these contractors.
