My buddy Chuck asked me to join him at the First Annual Rudy "Dr. Ru" Kutey Memorial Car Show at Baker's in Milford Michigan (near Indyman Joe's house). . "Dr. Ru" was the nickname of Rudy Kutey, a highly regarded Detroit pinstriping artist. He earned the nickname "Dr. Ru" from assembly plant workers due to his incredibly steady pulse and precision hand. He is famous in the automotive community for his exclusive work on the Plymouth / Chrysler Prowler. Between 1997 and 2002, Kutey hand-painted the distinctive pinstripes running along the upper body edges of every single special-edition Inca Gold and Mulholland Edition (Midnight Blue) Prowler. He was also flown out specifically to hand-pinstripe the very last Chrysler Prowler to ever roll off the assembly line, which later sold at a Christie's charity auction for $175,000. Kutey passed away in July 2026 at the age of 78.

Family. fellow area pinstripers and car enthusiasts who knew Rudy came out. Local motorcycle builder and painter legend, Ron Finch, even came to pay tribute to Dr Ru.
