The consol in my car was destroyed, maybe for a radio. Now I looked for a new consol but only find these whose over the ash tray.

Is there some two different consol?

My ash tray lock it's a bigger plate who doesn't fit in the other.

I only find consoles with wood inley.

I also have a 65 GP and as far as I know, the only console trim was walnut veneer. You can buy a veneer kit from Ames that replaces every piece of veneer on your dash & console, which I have done. Looks like you'll need to fabricate something to fix the mess that someone else made and then veneer it.

Buying trim pieces for the 65 is tough because it was a one year only model with plenty of unique styling.

Yes, mine is also black painted metal UNDER the veneer. Are you saying you can't find the correct size ash tray?

The other peeps might chime in here so please correct me if I'm wrong - did the A bodies & B bodies have different size interior bits, like the ashtray?

Your GP is a fullsize car (B body.) You need to be sure that you are looking for parts to suit only a B body. For reference, A bodies were the more compact cars, like the Tempest, Le Mans & GTO.

Bits for these things are hard to source - as I said earlier, you may have to fabricate something.

I find a picture of a catalina with a split front bench without a consol.. This has the same ashtray plate.

So I think my consol should be original but shorter.

It means around the ash tray is no chrom or veneer.

Maybe can send me some picture about the ashtray.. How it's lokks behind the veneer and everything. Thanks
