Realizing this group is predominantly US, I''ll start easy and if this isn't the place for me to be, let me know.

1) I'm in Canada. It's a tough time for Canada/US relations but I like to think car guys can ignore that and focus on fun stuff, Pontiacs...

2) I have a 1966 Canadian Pontiac which means it  was sold with the same powertrain as a 1966 Impala. The diehard Pontiac guys tell me my car isn't a real Pontiac.

Anyway, I've loved the big 66 Pontiacs since my first one in 1975, almost 50 years ago. I currently own 2.

Car one is an original paint, original interior 45,000 mile Strato Chief 2 door post. I am third owner. It was originally a 283/3 on the tree. I converted it  to a 427 4 speed using all correct pieces to make it look like it came off the assembly line.

No worries. We have a no bs talk here with politics. You’ll fit in fine as we appreciate all owners and Pontiacs 👍.

Might be my phone or light, is blue or a blue/green? Whatever it is, it looks amazing!

Car two is a 1966 Grande Parisienne. In Canada, it's a rare car. Not many of the big Pontiacs came 396's from the factory but this one did. What makes it really rare is it's documented by GM Vintage Vehicle Services in Canada as being one of only 23 with factory air. It was originally also equipped with a Powerglide, dual exhaust, tinted glass, power windows, buckets with headrests.. The previous owner, a friend of mine added many original options including reverb, AM/FM, tilt, tach, rally gauge cluster and reclining passenger seat. I bought the car about 2 years ago and since then have done a "factory" 4 speed conversion, added power vent windows, power driver's seat, power trunk, power antenna, power door locks and a reel out trunk light. I also replaced all the underhood hose clamps with original style clamps and added the correct Canadian underhood/trunk decals.

Good, I like the no politics rules on forums. Thanks for mentioning that.

It's kind of an aqua color, likely more green than blue but it depends on the lighting when the pictures are taken.

Welcome to FP and the madness 4speed!

We have several Canadian members. Notallthere and Dualquadpete are two of our more active members. Pete owns a ‘64 Parisienne wagon with a 327 and a 3-speed manual on the floor. If I had my way, I would love to find a ‘68 or ‘69 Beaumont - preferably a SD big block car.

dam ! i want a glass window wash bottle ! wonder why i havent seen one on a b body ???. not even the craddle that holds it !!!

geees a guy never stops learning about these cars !!!:stars:

There are called Opti-Kleen bottles. That was the name of the GM brand of windshield washer fluid. OPGI was re-pop kits. If you look around Oz and NZ I am sure you can  find an original. The bottles are triangular in shape.

These were installed across virtually every car line at GM. It might have been an option on some models. OPGI’s kit lists the cars this was available on.

As was mentioned, yes the glass bottle is a factory item for spare washer fluid. The label on it is also unique on the Canadian Pontiacs. When I got the yellow car my friend (the previous owner) had installed a label but he had put the US style on it and I couldn't have that!

I am 1/2 an hour south of Winnipeg, just 25 miles north of the US border which is convenient for getting parts shipped when vendors won't ship to Canada. You can have the 30 degree stuff, I'll take the -30 degree winters any time. I dress warm, take walks twice a day and have a nice heated garage with a lift. I'm retired so spend a good part of my days in there especially in the winter.

I don't know Notallthere but I know Dualquadpete. I hang out a lot on the Canadian Poncho site where he's been a member for a long time. I've had parts deals with him over the years and followed his car stuff including the tragic loss of his workshop and 2 cars years ago.

The guy who started the thread I'm linking to has the correct decals for a lot of Canadian Pontiacs.

Rats, looks like my link below doesn't work. Maybe it will if you copy and paste it into the header?

Since I can't get the link to work, if you go to Canadianponcho.ca and scroll down to Canadian Pontiac/Acadian/Beaumont Parts For Sale you'll find his thread where he has pictures etc of the decals he does. He reproduces many decals unique to our Canadian cars and although you will see some of the ones he has done are available elsewhere, you will find his to be most authentic. He takes great pride in correctly reproducing the decals .

4speed - I am delighted you know/follow Dualquadpete. He and I have been friends for almost 20 years. We met at a car show in Charleston WV back in 2008! We've been friends ever since. I probably get 4 emails a days from him. He's a huge Trump and Trudeau hater! So I get to hear his opinions about the felon and the fella' all the time. He's out of north Toronto.

Notallthere is out of Sarnia ONT, just on the other side of Port Huron Michigan. I see him and his wife a few times a year.

I am familiar with Canadian Poncho. ever since Pete told me about it. I also browse Kijiji from time to time, just to look.

Ok, he always talks about his friend in WV and his trips there. Good to "meet" you!

That would be Rusty. I am friends with Rusty as well. We have a good time when we are down there. Rusty hosts a show in early June every year. Pete's worried that Trump's policies are going to threaten his ability to go this year because of rising costs once the tariff wars starts in earnest.

A pleasure to meet you as well sir!

Welcome...

Since the pictures were taken I've removed the radio and installed the block off place on the dash where it was. I can't bring myself to mess with the original paint and patch the antenna hole in the fender so it has a metal cap snapped in there now. People are always bugging me to add PS and PB but I see no point, it drives fine without them. I did add the F41 front and rear bars though.

I respect that. My only reservation would be to consider installing front disc brakes (manual is fine) for safety reasons much like having the seat belts in the car when the car didn't come with them. Since this is not an 8-lug car, adding disc brakes would not do much to diminish the value of the car.  These cars, at speed, can take a long time to slow down with four wheel drum brakes vs. with front discs.

Still - it's a great looking car.

I've tossed around the idea of just doing a dual master. I even bought an NOS dual master for a 67 and have a correct block for the lines as well.  I really don't think I'll do discs though and at this point not likely even the dual master. I've had to do a couple of panic stops and it has done very well. All the wheel cylinders are new and the master was rebuilt with a Delco repair kit. I had a set of disc brakes and sold them. The car does not get a lot of miles and the miles it gets are easy miles around the small town I live in as well as a bit out on the highway (very light traffic).

The seat belts were standard equipment for us in 1966, I didn't add them. Is the US different?

Also, because the chassis is 100% Impala under our cars 8 lugs are not an option for us (sadly because I love them)

Welcome to the Site! I have always had a weird fascination with Canadian Pontiac's ever sense running across a 1958 Strato Streak 4-door in a Junkyard in Central Michigan. I had never heard of that model and was surprised to see it had a straight 6 under the hood.   That was about 50 years ago, and while I have passed on a Beaumont as just to much work. I would like to someday own an Acaidian  or if I get really weird a turbo Firefly if any even exist anymore.

Great Looking couple of 66's!

Thank you for the welcome and kind words about my cars!

For the most part I've found the diehard US Pontiac guys to be very curious about our cars and receptive but every so often I'll get the "that's not a Pontiac" rude type of comment. Because of that I'm hesitant to post in US groups about our cars (I debated a while before making my first post here).  This group has been very welcoming, destroying my fears!
