WTB pickup for new driver/son.

Featured Replies

Not a pontiac obviously but we all have dailies. My son, that is helping me build our 31 Pontiac, just got his permit. Woot woot. Anyways he would like a small pickup truck. I would like to find him an S10 ZR2. I'm good with high miles or needs work. Like maybe needs a fender or bumper etc. or needs engine work but runs and drives. If anyone knows of something around your yard or your buddies place or you just see something for sale locally let me know. We're in MN but have a van and a car hauler. Thanks for helping.

Sounds like an awesome father/son project. I hope you find one.

A S10 ZR2 is awfully specific. Is he (or you) planning on doing some offloading/ORV stuff with it? Another thought might be to find a solid S10/S15 and build it up into the offroader of his/your dreams. That would be a lot of bonding time too.

Nope just around our town in the winters it will come in handy. They were well optioned, good looking trucks. Limited slip rear ends, good suspensions, bigger engine option. Etc. our project vehicles are a wee bit older. Plus he already build a gokart and I have a 1989 s10 Tahoe in the garage that is mostly restored he wants to drive but that's not driven in the winter anymore. So this would he his daily. If i can find one for a reasonable price.

Ended up with the opposite of what we were hoping for as the zr2 are almost untouchable in price for a first truck. Found a 96 s10 ext cab with jump seats and 4.3l just 2wd no limited slip. But it was custum built by Coachman! Only 143k miles for $1300

The truck is lower than we wanted and has a very sturdy thick fiberglass ground effects kit. Just added a new floor pan on the driver side. And doing some other cleanups before he gets his license.
