One of the things both of my rebuild jetaway’s do is need a warm up to go in gear. Apparently the oil can drain out of the converter overnight. Does yours  do that, or can it be started and put into gear first thing?

Mine goes straight away, which i know has to do with that cold oil by-pass spring, its like a reed valve and it by passes the oil until its hot enough.

but having said that i read in the 1963 shop manual that they note that it is a common issue. the valve needs replacing.
