nice work del !!!! you could be a plumber :)

i note that your old single outlet master cylinder had the c clip that my booster rebuild man warned me about !!!!

those eyelets in the c clip dig into the front seal on the booster, hopefully it hasnt damaged your booster !!!

now tell me !!!! how does the 64 brake ??????

glad you and your family where safe, we saw the media coverage, wasnt pretty !! both the boss and i commented on you and Ringo . 👍

The brakes are sufficient but will be better today after I bleed them. Interesting that there was no rubber boot. I tried to use the boot from the 66 suburban. It mounted on master  but didn’t seem to fit in booster.

show us some pictures of your brake upgrade Del ! ...

i trust you and your family where ok with that major storm that went through forida ?

Hi Chris, the bad weather was on the other coast so we didn’t have much more than some strong winds.

I had to put a rush on doing the dual master cylinder upgrade because the original would lose all its fluid in 4 days. The job would be easier if it included the fittings and coupler needed.  I’m sure it’s different for various applications. In my case I only had room for one brake line on one side due to the wheel well. I ran the other line off the other side as you see in the picture. Not pretty but it works.

Ah plumbing is easy mate

another thing to consider is make a couple. Of loops in both you pipes between the master cylinder and the brass block on the chassis !

as you know your master cylinder is mounted to the body … which in turn is mounted to the chassis on rubber bushes that allow the body to move ! Your brake lines need to be able to flex too ! Hence a double coil of tube 👍

Hi Chris, finally doing dual Master cylinder swap. Do you add any kind of proportional valve? I know I did for the 66 suburban but it had disk in front and drum in back which then needed proportional valve.

Speaking of new tools, look at what the wife bought me for my bday. Looks like i will be taking it up a notch with car restoration. The 66 suburban is doing great. I just finished with front disk brake conversion. I want to make the rear solid glass sliders so it my be my first welding project. You can see a picture of an old window frame. It is double channel. One is 1/2”wide and the other is 3/4. The trick is the corner curves. I guess I need to cut notches to allow it to curve then weld it back. Also I imagine i will need to bend up my channel vs finding the correct u-channel size. Oh, one more thing, i have never welded other than cheap harbor freight 110v stick welder. Should be a learning experience.

    IMG_9957.jpeg

Happy to say I managed to figure out the welder enough to replace the rotten bottom channel. The hard part was to get the right side channel. It seems the ID of the U it too small for the bending machines. I ended up cutting to top off of some square tube which worked great!

  6. Hi Chris, I guess its time to jump into my next restoration. I just flew to LA and SFO California to look at a 64, and 66 suburban for my 16yr old son and I. We are going with the 66 gmc suburban. Pretty clean but not as nice as Bonnie. So the green one is the 66 we are buying for 18k. Should give us some room for shipping and stuff like paint and such. The 64 was 10k more but not as clean. Plus it had rear barn doors vs clam shell. We love the tail gate look especially since we plan to make it a beach baby with surfboards everywhere.

same too for this manifold heat tube for the choke...

vacuum lines off and deleted the feed to that idle control diapham....

the old and the new !!!

    1DB13759-FAF3-4CD5-BAFB-425EA8D3DCE6.jpeg

my guess is that my factory carter is a 600cfm, the primarys on the edelbrock are the same size as the carter but the seconardies are justA fraction bigger... this is the avs2 1906 model 650cfm.

    AE72C020-3652-4180-AAD1-1C13BEF5AD8D.jpeg

in the box came a gasket that as you can see simply wont work for my factory manifold !!

you can see the gap in the right hand side !!

    CF3CF592-7DE6-4B97-83BB-98F505A72ADD.jpeg

this gasket will seal much better !!!!

also the manifold heat tube set up needs to come off and be blanked off ....

    CA543651-D6E6-4656-9356-1C721C35E098.jpeg

so i have cut off the tubes .....welded up the holes....

    16CDEAF7-628D-4B46-A79E-E94F76C3C2D4.jpeg

and refitted it with some hi temp silicon

wiring for the choke is in the box tooo, which made it super easy !!!

with the correct an fitting my teflon fuel line was a simple do-up job.

so was the gas pedal /trans kickdown rods!!! Big thank you to Del, for pics of his set up... in the box was a brand new ball mount and all i had to do was adjust the lengths of each rod...easy as !!!!:dancingpontiac:

    C8C007D5-3C81-43B7-82CF-B8F6AF66A54B.jpeg

power supply to the electric chock came form the positive side of the coil...again nice and simple,

    0B931467-7439-45B4-9A5B-FF012D736EBC.jpeg

i adjusted the idle mixer and justA checked my timing again, tuned the idle with my timing light which has a tac display, edelbrock say to find max idle speed with each mixer screw then lean it back 20rpm .....

    then the test drive!!!!!:dancingpontiac:

instanlty i was impressed, fantastic acceleration, the motor sounded wayyyy stronger.....cruising speed and floored it ... trans kicks down and it now sounds like a 389 growwling !!!

    930B0151-2784-4C2E-AB65-53A89D4CCF34.jpeg

she is now capable of one wheel skids!! hahahaha:rofl:

Last job was to pop the air cleaner on !!!!... not going to happen!!! the carter was 4 1/4 inch inlet.... the avs....5 inch!!!:stars:

my factory air cleaner will not work......

option 1 ...... buy a new air cleaner.....

option 2..... make the factory unit fit....

i left it last night and though about what the theme is with the 64.... its a stock build...so i have decided to make the stock unit fit....

my plan...find a 5 inch air cleaner base and cut the two up and make my stock one into a 5 inch inlet, since i had already spent time earlier on making the inlet snokel bigger for better air flow into the filter housing...

i want to be able to open the hood and you see a near stock looking engine, justA to be different !!! hahaha:dancingpontiac:

Wow !!! That is very clean !!! Love the blue interior !!!
I did note that front bumper is bent on the passenger side . And isn’t sitting right with  the fender . Still I would pay 30 k for her !!!

You an i but both know we couldn’t make one that nice for under 30k

The dealer said buyer drove it about 6hrs home with no problems. No way I would drive that car this time of year on the frozen winter roads.
