Dunno. It's possible someone else took a call from him and hasn't gotten around to telling me about it. Either way, I think next weekend I'm gonna finish doing the brakes on it just so I can start it and move it around. I still haven't had the chance to run any tests on that transmission I rebuilt and I really want proof I'm as good as I think I am.

I've got a guy wants it. He's supposed to call me this weekend to arrange picking it up. He finished a Lemans project last year and saw it while driving past and inquired. Interested enough to make 4 calls to finally catch me so I think he's bonified. I mentioned that I was keeping it as a parts car for the olds and he countered by asking what parts I needed ... he might have them for me. More importantly, he knew the ins and outs of plating an old car in QC, so I'm pretty sure he's legit.

Quebec is very tough about plating older cars, and out of province cars. Out of province AND older would be just too much gov't hassle. If it wasn't so much trouble I'd have gotten my station wagon years earlier. I'm sure GE could have found one with no rust at all and a 455 in about 20 minutes.

Chevettes and acadians are on my daily kijiji search list. Haven't seen one in years. Quebec salt is lethal.

What the Hell is That?

A little back story. 2005 Malibu (close your eyes and pretend I said Pontiac) recently has issues with the door key during freezing temps.  Key will turn to lock easy enough, but jams a little over a quarter way into the unlock direction. During the latest thaw, I managed to get it open and tear off the door panel. Inside, feeling the rod from the key lock while turning the key ... feels real 'grindy' turning in both directions. Can't recall at the moment, but I think the unlock direction pushes the rod down. Sprayed WD40 in to disperse any residual water .. intend to white grease everything come the next warm day. But in the bottom of the door .. I found these two characters. Both are severely cracked. Dunno what they're for or where they belong. Both have a flat side with some fine fuzz which I suspect was once adhesive now covered in dust. Anyone have any idea ... and could they be the reason for my lock trouble?

Getting into the Mile High club is a LOT tougher now. Before, a wink and some cash to a stewardess would get you left alone in the 'private stall' long enough to join with a willing partner. Now, any grunts or groans, or even taking too long is likely to get the flight turned back and you in handcuffs (again?).

He'd still say it was the car's fault. That's their narrative. I have a bike permit myself. I always watch for them ... but I don't ride anymore myself because the insurance is too costly. Because 90% of the riders on the road today are as bad as 90% of the car drivers ... and it's always someone else's fault.

Quebec at least knows this. And they punish it. Plates for a bike include 'no fault' insurance. For a bike over 500cc, you're looking at $500 to plate it. UNLESS it's classed as a 'sport bike'. If that's the case ... DOUBLE IT!! $1000 for plates for a 3 season vehicle. Why? Because if you're buying a 'sport bike', you're buying it to be stupid. Can't say I've seen anything to make me disagree with them.

On the Olds, the oil filter is really tough to get at with a normal filter wrench and their nut end was a real find. Haven't heard anything bad about them so that's what I've been using.
