  1. Back home now with a rental (2009 G6 GT, go figure). They diagnosed the whine in the steering as a bad rack and pinion, so that's goin' in. They're fixing the keyless entry BS and getting me another key fob for free. They couldn't reproduce the tranny problems I was having (hard shift from 2nd to 3rd), but I still have plenty of powertrain warranty left. So that's that.

Oh, and thanks Killiger for comin' out and chillin' with me in the waiting room :)

  2. Well, as the title says, me and the G6 are off to the dealership in about an hour. I'm having the generic clunk from the intermediate shaft problem, a slight whine while turning (not fluid related), some very hard shifting (upshifting and downshifting), and the good ol' multi-vehicle problem where the car loses the RF info for the keyless entry and TPMS system. Woo.

I'm slightly weary about the transmission thing since 3 or 4 transmission related posts popped up on G6P.com yesterday. ^_^

Ah well. Nothing like milking the 3 year/36,000 with 35,874 miles on the ticker.

Wish me and the 6 luck.

  3. Thanks for the update.

Does the kenwood have ipod connectivity and bluetooth?

Yes and yes. iPod Connectivity is via USB, bluetooth is enabled.

If you get the cable for the iPod (something like $20), it hooks up in the rear and allows you to browse the iPod via the touchscreen and play videos from it.

Bluetooth, you have to get the Kenwood bluetooth adapter for handsfree cell use.

  4. I apologize if you clicked the link and got double DIN units, they show single DIN fold outs for me, for that car. Other than that, the only single DIN fold outs I've seen and used that have been worth their money are Kenwoods. As far as that goes, they make the KVT-614, get that with the nav module and it's quite nice. A friend has it, I've played with it and it's not bad. He loves it. The nav module uses an SD card, no DVDs. It can be found on Crutchfield.

  5. Well my first car, and my baby, was a 1989 Camaro Z28. Long story short, a cop falling asleep at the wheel and ramming into my Camaro sent me into a rental car. This rental was a 2009 Pontiac G6 GT sedan. I had the car for a month and fell in love, and was very reluctant to give it up. Seven months later, with a busted up Camaro and a broken down beater, I went to the dealership and picked up a used 2008 G6 GT sedan with 28k on the clock. And that was that.

  6. That'd be sweet! I'm pretty sure there are no Merchants here in Cali

Merchant's is owned by a company called Tire Kingdom, which is in turn owned by a company called TBC Corporation, who is in turned owned by the Sumitomo Corporation of America, which is in turn owned by Sumitomo Corporation (as in Sumitomo tires).

Merchant's and Tire Kingdom pretty much cover the east coast, a bit of the midwest, and most of the south, and Big O Tires, their "sister" company, covers the west coast. So, Merchant's = Big O Tires.

  7. 1st Car (and still currently owned) - 1989 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 (305 TBI)

Mods: fog lights, mild cam, 14" open air element, subwoofers

The most current picture of it I have is:

    2833705375_9ec0ffcb4c.jpg

A special operations police officer (i.e.: narcotics cop) from a different county decided to make an illegal lane change into my baby with his unmarked Nissan Maxima. They claimed sovereign immunity even though I'm pretty sure he fell asleep at the wheel, and he had no lights on (not even a turn signal). She's currently waiting for the frame to be straightened and all the new shiny parts I have for her to be hung.

The good news: My steel Camaro completely destroyed the Maxima and the dude got to ride a desk instead of in a car for a good long while.

2nd car - 1989 Ford Taurus L, as in Wagon

Mods: Alpine headunit circa 4030 BC rigged up to 2 Alpine 10" Type S's, faulty blinker, broken tailgate, half blown-up

The car stranded me at the shop I work at. We were doing brakes on it, when we found whoever had done the brakes last had cross-threaded the caliper slide bolts, requiring a new RF steering knuckle. I said F this, dumped the car off on a friend for free, and bought the G6.

  8. YAY we have a ricer thread so post any pics of horrible looking cars or ricers

sory my sticker was in the way but there was a 10 inch fart can on it lol

    ewwwwwww.jpg

lol, this dude used to live across the street from me. Gooooood lord that car is funny.

Painted valve cover, oil breather, torpedo for a muffler... and nothing else.

  9. Yeah, with certain things, like parts for my car, I refuse to be cheap, as you get what you pay for :lol2:

Y'know, the funny thing is, Oznium, whom I've heard oodle n' boodles of ungodly good things about has cheaper 6" flexible LED strips than the Pilot strips. I just don't like shipping. I guess I learned my lesson. Spent more cuzz I couldn't wait, and the crap breaks.
