Both of my cars are down, not only missed crusin today but missed a chance to meet our own B52. Today was set up and figuring out what to do from all the activities in the different cities the DC goes through. Displays, concerts, food, DC official merchandise. Did I mention the cars? The stars that come here in the mitten to party with us. The participants from around the world. This is DETROIT. Of course we have the largest automotive event on the planet. Some are not even on the planet. Watching from above. Share your DC party pic's and stories with us in this thread.

Hello,

I had a great time cruising yesterday in Frosty's Firebird with Joe and his kids in formation behind us. We stopped at the best vendor site for t-shirts and Woodward wall art. My family and I returned to Woodward last night for the parade of old cop cars, firetrucks, Ghostbuster vehicles, Hollywood movie and Television classic vehicles - quite the loud blast from the past. The siren sounds of old from these vehicles are very different than today's first responder vehicles.

We might even go back again today to see whatever drives by.

Hello Chris,

I only took one picture yesterday and that was of Frosty's Firebird - I will get around to posting it - busy with kids here is my excuse. Frosty, OTOH . . . melted the lens on his camera while we were cruising taking so many pictures. Justa you wait 'til you see his pictures.

Frosty is also tied up today and some of yesterday dealing with replacing a faulty water heater at home. I will try to get more pictures today if we go. The weather here is so much better than in Louisiana for car show things - no rain and 80 F for a high today. And very mild humidity compared to down south.

Need your story and pics. Everyone has a different view of the whole show. I wait all year for this. Christmas, Bday, Halloween all wrapped up in one. Where's both of my rides? Now waiting for next year.

Hello,

OK, here we go. My wife and made it part of the way down Woodward Avenue in our forlorn little Kia rental car and I felt so inadequate among all of the loud Classic high horsepower iron. Somebody that looked official was collecting the Man Cards of every man driving a compact hybrid and thusly, I had to give mine up to the authorities. I may never get it back . . . I'm so ashamed.

JustA6 - in a high powered, supercharged six cylinder car -- how's that for my Woodward Avenue story that is only partially true?

My wife and I did venture down Woodward Avenue in our little red Kia hybrid rental this afternoon into mostly gridlock slow movement madness. The Kia got no thumbs up love from anybody sitting in chairs along the route but plenty of the Classics certainly did that were in the slow trip with us.

Time was running out on us and we eventually abandoned the route and headed off back to the grandkids. I will try to do better in the future with my writing and make believe skills.

And my only picture - Frosty below in his Firebird with the REALLY big motor and the awesome sounds out the back. There's no substitute for cubic inches and his car certainly checks that box.

Continuing on with B52's comments from Woodward....

I was under the impression that there were not one, but two Goodyear plimps at Oakland County airport. I saw them as I drove by, heading to the Tim Horton rendezvous.

IMG_6063-A.JPG

How many car shows do you know that have not one but two blimps!!!!

Here is the photo I took of Indyman Joe and his grandson with Dirty Girl.

Friday evening, there were two Goodyear blimps. Think about a Goodyear blimp - this my first time EVER . . . seeing it at something other than a sporting event. The Dream Cruise actually has tires, lots of them, some of them even Goodyear rubber.

Back to the Bricks rolling cruise - Wednesday and Thursday - August 12 and 13, 2026

Starting in Downtown Flint and heading south towards Grand Blanc - to meet up with the WIdetrackers.

This is the ignition/electrical shop I use to take Lucy to. It's been around for well over 60 years. This is where I tried to take Lucy earlier this summer with my starter issue. It now looks like it is officially closed and out of business. Sad really. The note on the door from earlier this summer about having health problems is still there.

With classic cars in front of it, it is clear that the old GM admin building from the GM UAW Sit Down Strike historical marker in front of it, has been vandalized as well.

Saturday, August 15, 2006 - Woodward Dream Cruise

It case it was not obvious, our annual 10 am rendezvous at the corner of M59 and Cass Lake Road was a complete disaster. Justa could not get either of his cars running, his daughter, JustaG6 headed out on her own. I have no idea what happened to his daughter Liz and hubby Mike and their RIveria. Indyman Joe let me know the grand kids over slept and would not make it. So I was a solo act all day. I eventually made my way to Greenfield Elementary School and got taken to Nicky D's to watch the WDC for the rest of the afternoon.

How many car shows do you know that have a Goodyear Blimp. This year there were 2 apparently. I suspect one for the Ally Challenge Gold Tournament in Grand Blanc. With the clouds being so low, the blimp didn't really leave the Pontiac area. I never saw it around 14 Mile, where I was.

IMG_5527.JPGIMG_5529.JPG

I had to stop at the PTM for a quick photo. A future POTM? Perhaps.

IMG_5824.JPG

This guy claimed this was one of the original '70 Jury's. I am not buying it.

Only thing that is correct is that is a Paladin silver 70 Lemans.

Things wrong that I noticed.

  1. All original Jurys had blue interiors, this appears to be black.

  2. Not aware any of them had vinyl roofs at all

  3. They came with '69 spoilers, this is a 70-72 spoiler

  4. Stripping package is completely wrong. I can elaborate later if you'd like me to.

    IMG_5827.JPGIMG_5828.JPG IMG_5829.JPG

    More on this guy later

IMG_5835.JPGIMG_5837.JPGIMG_5839.JPG

Yup. A real Holden! There were no Holden wagons imported as a Pontiac G8 or Chevy SS.

IMG_5840.JPGIMG_5841.JPGIMG_5842.JPG

And another Holden.
