No turn signals on 1960 Bonneville

Featured Replies

Anyone can point me where to start trouble shooting? No turn signals, indicator light/arrors or sound and no external signals when turning the turn signal stalk.

Is there a flasher relay installed? Do the lamps test good with a multimeter? Do the brake lights and parking lights work? Did any of this ever work?

Hey Rick,

Sorry it took me this long to follow up. Life gets in the way...To answer your question headlights and parking lights work. Reverse litght work. One brake light on driver's side is out, passenger side brake light works. Would the flasher be underr the dash by the fuses? I assume it would be a round pot? There's also some black plastic module hanging down under the dash (I'll take pictures in a while). Thing is that the inside dome lamps worked at one time and now they're npt working either, even when working the door switch manually. So to sum up: Driver side brake light, interior dome lights, turn signal arrows on dash and external turn signals don't work.

Thanks

W

Hello Willy,

The dome light could be a blown fuse or a blown lamp. If equipped with hazard flasher lights, do they work? Have you looked at the lamp contacts down in the lamp socket to see if they are rusty and not making good contact?

Definitely get yourself a wiring diagram. Look for the flasher relay and you might go ahead and buy one - they are not expensive. Clean up the lighting grounds at the rear and front of the car. If we fix the external turn signals, I think your dash signals will probably respond correctly.

Rick
