power window and top not working

This sounds familiar.

Double check your fuses first. Make sure nothing is blown.

If your 68 is wired like my 72 convertible, then you may have a blown accessory relay. In my 72, there is a power accessory relay hidden in the driver side vent/footwell, behind the driver’s kick panel. It went out on me a few years ago, replacing it fixed both the power top and power windows.

For my '70 Catalina convertible, it was burned up and arc melted internal switch contacts on the top motor switch. With no relay supporting the top motor for this vehicle, Pontiac made the switch contacts carry all of the current for the top motor - a whole lotta' juice.
