1966 Catalina Gear Indicator

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I recently acquired a 66 Catalina convertible with a column shifter. The car goes into all of the gears (P, R, N..) just fine, but the needle indicator does not move. Can this be repaired? I didn't see this issue identified in the shop manuals. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

The simple answer is yes. Generally speaking these early column shift PRNDL indicators are clipped to the steering column collar by a string/elastic band and a clip. So it is usually a simple matter of re-clipping it to the steering column collar so that it moves when the collar moves.

Frosty, thanks for the information. I'll see if I can locate the clip after taking the steering wheel and column apart.
