Thanks bro. Right now the seats are the original 1963 white interior. I have charged out the red carpet for black and painted the dash to match the body color.

It looks great i need to move my gages to the same location I hit my knee every time where they are now... I bought the individual cups for it but your setup looks really clean... how did you hide the back of the gages / wires & hoses, when you look from the passenger side? Here is where my are now... I also need to move the FM receiver from the passenger side it looks out of place... Do you guys know if that is a dealer installed option and is that the location they were all installed? I was thinking about installing a headless media center but keep the original radio and fm receiver in working condition as well...

Thank you, I was working on it today with the guy that took it apart, it looks like the interior handle had to be adjusted to stop pulling on the latch mechanism that stopped the cog from moving freel

The FM reciever is not factory/dealer installed...it is an Aftermarket unit...The Realistic brand name is From Radio Shack... (Remember them...??)....Probably from the late 1970s early 1980s...

Remember them! I had one back in high school! It was a cheap and easy way to get FM when all you had was am AM radio in your car! Then I figured out getting a factory AM/FM or an AM/FM 8-track radio out of a junkyard was easy and relatively inexpensive.

FM converter was the 1st thing on the list in 73 and my 1st car.  OMG   CKLW....Motor City Rocks!  The one rockin station on AM. Then moved on to 8 track box with it's own built in speakers.  Plug N play off the lighter socket.  1st tape??  BOB SEGER and the Silver bullet band LIVE!!!!  Was 36 rows from the stage at the concert. Dang it seems like yesterday. Naw yesterday was when my kids were small.

WAIR...1340 am was the rockinist station...in this area..."Dadio on the patio" was the coolest DJ on Satuday night...The station moved to FM broadcast...And became WSEZ..(Z-93) North Carolina's Best Rock..Back in the mid to late 1970s...Of course the very first thing I did was go to Radio Shack and get a FM Converter like the one shown in 63grand prix's photo...along with a Kraco 8 track player with "Mind Blower" speakers from Kmart...So I could play my Lynyrd Skynrd and Ted Nugent's Double Live Gonzo tapes... Or listening to Z 93 or sometimes 95 Q out of Charlotte if the atmospheric  conditions were right...While driving my first car...1969 Buick Skylark...Damn I'm feeling old today...🤨🤨🤨...

So the only way I could find to hide the wiring, oil line and coolant was to run them up the top part of the console then zip tie the wires together. When I rewired the car the Painless harness I used did not come with the wiring for the console. I knew I was installing these gauges, so I built a harness for the console with those wires included. The oil line and coolant lines also go up the console to the firewall and out to the engine from there. I went with the 2 & 5/8 " gauges because I thought it looked more at home and old eyes can see them easier.

On a personal note, if you are going to run aftermarket gauges in anything, I would highly advise upgrading to the copper line for the oil gauge. You can get it from any auto parts store. It's much more durable and have I personally had the plastic line explode while driving. Running along about 80mph, gauges mounted to the A-pillar and shot hot oil on the inside of the windshield. It was a mess! I haven't run a plastic oil line since.

Thank you for the heads up on the plastic line... I am going to install all new autometer gauges on it. I think oil pressure gauge has a plastic line, I will for sure replace it. The only gauge that is not autometer will be my AFR gauge...

Mine let go at the Autometer OIL pressure gauge in the pod and got the outside of the windshield.  Replumbed the gas pressure gauge to copper and then repaired the oil pressure gauge. Good advise Wrongway or should I say Rightway??

Hell Justa, some of yall may have even seem me on the side of the road, I was working in Auburn hills at the time and running late for work.

Yeah I went with Autometer also, the Auto gage series, part# 2399 for the large face and look.

Hey how is everyone doing?

I am going to receive the new striker tomorrow, do you guys know if I remove all 3 screws from the striker will the back plate stay in place or should I leave a screw to hold it?

Also I installed the new IMPALA steering wheel, I ordered a Pontiac round logo that I will glue on top of it...

Thank you 64 Kiwi, I got it from Amazon, and the center cap + horn assembly from summit racing.  The cost for all 3 parts was around $400

Brand new 64 kiwi

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00513S1FW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/GMK-4031-542-665

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/OER-3841275

the brand is OER, I was surprised by the quality it is really nice, and it fits nice as well... the cup circumference where it meets the steering column is a bit smaller than the original, and the gap is bigger... I will send you a picture of that area later on today..  They have in black, blue and red... I did not order the blue because I was afraid that the color would be off.

I am going to measure and 3D print a ring to close the gap to make it look better... Once I have it tested and refined if anyone needs I can send you one as well or send you the file for you to print locally...

Hello guys... Another weekend working on the GP, I have a water leak in the trunk and a rust bubble appeared close to the back window trim, how difficult is to remove the back window lower trim to make repairs and reseal it?

Today I was working on the center console and installed new rubber seals on both door now is kind of hard to close it, hopefully the seals will compress and make it easier to close the doors...

Here are the pictures of the console after removing the tapes, a lot of work almost lost it 🙂 the last 2 pictures are from a few months ago before I removed the interior to redo it...

Now I need to work on the electrical and install my gauge pods on the passenger side of the console..
