GTO 65" transmission parts - need help

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone,

I bought a beautiful GTO '65 at auction, but someone replaced the clutch kit and the flywheel. Now the release bearing is too far from the clutch and
the flywheel does't fit the starter .
For sure, I want to order a new kit (Flywheel, Clutch, Clutch Fork and Ball Stud)

I have parts decoded (I think so):

- transmission: P8H20 = june 20 '68, muncie m20

- engine block: S1/k10 = 61' 389 cu

What do you think, what I should buy?

Judging from the pic..Looks like Someone installed a Chevy flywheel instead of the Pontiac specific unit...The bolt pattern (crankshaft) and the pilot bushing is universal across all the GM brands...The weight/thickness of the flywheels and the location of the outer rings and the tooth count are the main differences between them...A quick way to tell the Chevrolet Flywheel from the Pontiac Flywheel is the Pontiac will have  6 (six) bolt holes..The chevy and possibly Buick will have extra slightly offset hole for a dowel pin...
