1969 Catalina Fuel Sending Unit

Featured Replies

Hi,

I am new to the forums and I am working on trying to get my 69 Catalina convertible running again. I am working on replacing the fuel lines and fuel sending unit, but I am having a hard time finding a replacement fuel sending unit that matches the existing one. It is a bolt on style with only one fuel line coming from the top. Most replacements I have found are a snap in type with more than one fuel line. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Mark

Maybe impossible to find a correct unit.  There are numerous company's who will rebuild them better than new.  I had Bobs Speedometer rebuild one for me a year ago.  www.bobsspeedometer.com

I have a non-functioning unit in my 1969 Catalina, and another being refurbished by Bobs Speedometer.  Is there a need out there for a refurbished unit?

OK unit came back from Bobs looking great, see attached.  The ground wire was removed, the original had a wire soldered on the flange as shown in the original picture by @Norseman64.  Question:  Can I ground it with a wire on one of the 6 bolts?  Technically the tank is grounded so not sure why this wire is required. Inputs are appreciated.  Thanks all.

I have a sending unit that I may refurbish, very good physical shape.  stay tuned.

I have the same sending unit. It is a unicorn. It is in bad shape. I asked bobs how much to fix it. It was over twice the price of getting a new gas tank and matching to the tank new sending unit. How much did you pay to restore yours?? I have to weigh the total cost since I'm paying someone to do the labor.

New tank with sending unit. +2 hours labor

Old tank cleaning + restored sending unit + 4-5 hours labor
