1969 LeMans convertible top switch

Hi Pontiac enthusiasts,

I got the LeMans out first time and switch for convertible top is dead.

what are best trouble shoot thoughts before taking into shop?

If you have a power probe, try to unplug the power connection to the pump in the trunk. It should be a two-wire connection. The pump should be grounded to the trunk. Apply 12V power to each lead, one at a time. One is for up, and the other is for down and see if the top tries to open and close. If the pump works, it is probably the switch. 

Also have you checked the Accessory fuse to make sure it is not blown and that the power lead to the switch/power top is plugged into the fuse block at the accessory outlet? Otherwise, the top certainly won't work.

Here is an example of the power lead going from the fuse block to the power convertible top switch (the red connector). You should also have a diagram in your owners manual.

I don't condone the white leads.
