64 389 difference

Featured Replies

I was looking at engine rebuild kits and it was listing 64 389 separate from 65-66. I was curious what the difference was. I purchased a 64 389 with intentions to build it for my 65 lemans and want to make sure nothing is too different. Thank you in advance.

The earlier 389s were reverse flow cooling...(Different cylinder heads and intake manifolds among other things) Pretty sure but not 100%....That they changed to a conventional coolant flow sometime in or around late 1964 or early 1965....???
